My Pen Pal:

Growing up in a small town, I went to a school where I knew everyone- my class had 13 kids in it (I’ll let that sink in.) I would see movies of kids who go to camp and meet friends there and exchange letters- and that appealed to me- writing a letter to someone who was a friend- but not part of your every day life. Alas, the camp angle did not appeal to me (the bugs are not my friends) but still- the idea had merit. Continue reading

The Readers of Broken Wheel Recommend

Summary from Goodreads:

Once you let a book into your life, the most unexpected things can happen…
Broken Wheel, Iowa, has never seen anyone like Sara, who traveled all the way from Sweden just to meet her pen pal, Amy. When she arrives, however, she finds that Amy’s funeral has just ended. Luckily, the townspeople are happy to look after their bewildered tourist—even if they don’t understand her peculiar need for books. Marooned in a farm town that’s almost beyond repair, Sara starts a bookstore in honor of her friend’s memory. All she wants is to share the books she loves with the citizens of Broken Wheel and to convince them that reading is one of the great joys of life. But she makes some unconventional choices that could force a lot of secrets into the open and change things for everyone in town. Reminiscent of The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, this is a warm, witty book about friendship, stories, and love.

Traveling With T’s Thoughts:

When I first saw this book at BEA 15, I’ll admit that the cover was the initial draw. I like blue covers, the swirls, etc. Then, my next thought (after reading the summary) was could this be another The Storied Life of AJ Fikry? It had a ish feeling to that plot line. Continue reading

Book Talk With R & T: Celebrating Adria Cimino & her books!

book talk r t

If you know Adria Cimino, you know how good of a person she is. Having had the chance to make her acquaintance via the internet over a year ago- I have always been impressed with how Adria presents herself on social media. She’s an author and while, yes, she does promote her books- she also takes time to build and foster connections with the people behind the blogs- and I think we all appreciate that!

When Rhiannon and I were discussing what book to read next, Adria’s name came up and it seemed the natural conclusion as both of us have had a chance to get to know her and have admired her style! Continue reading

Hey folks! We are back with more Book Talk goodness! You may or may not know that Rhiannon and I are quite fond of Adria Cimino- she’s a tireless supporter of bloggers and her emails are always so nice! (Plus, she can write!)

When we began talking to Adria about this opportunity to have CLOSE TO DESTINY as a Book Talk with R & T choice, we knew we wanted an interview- and Adria, in between all the planning and preparation for THAT’S PARIS (plus her CLOSE TO DESTINY planning) was so kind to give us one!

So, read on for more info about Adria: Continue reading
