Murder With Ganache

Hayley Snow, food critic, maid of honor for her BFF’s Connie upcoming wedding, cupcake maker and referee for her family’s tiffs with one another, has her hands full. Trying to juggle all that is giving Hayley fits and that is before her stepbrother, Rory, turns up missing. Rory left that night to walk Duvall Street a bit and when he never returns, Hayley is mad. Then worried. The next day, when Rory is found- unconscious and beaten- Hayley kows there is trouble. And getting to bottom of trouble happens to be her speciality.

While Rory is in the hospital, Hayley tries to find clues to help piece together the night before. When Hayley finds a dead teenage girl’s body- she gets a sinking feeling. What happened to Rory that night? And how does this girl’s body play into it?

With Haley’s family up in arms over the Rory situation- you’d think Hayley would be relieved that Connie postponed her wedding- nope, not even a bit. Because she can smell a rat and can’t decide how Connie’s father showing up for the wedding festivities might play in the postponement?

And, on the work front, Hayley’s cute boss, Wally, says he supports her and family comes first- but he keeps throwing more work at her while she’s dealing with the other fires. What gives, Wally?

All in all, what’s a girl to do? Why go to her favorite tarot reader, of course. But, when that fails, Hayley finds a new one and gets a whole new look at life. If she can live long enough to enjoy it, that is.

Traveling With T’s Thoughts:

Cute. Fun. Love Hayley. The recipes are yummy sounding and the setting of Key West is sublime. There is a good mystery and some sparks of romance to keep this story going. By the end of the story, readers will want to book a flight to Key West to join Hayley for some Café Con Leche and trip to see Hemingway’s cats (which Evinrude does not appreciate!)

If you like cozy mysteries, I highly recommend you discovering the world of Hayley Snow, food critic. If you already are a fan of Hayley’s- you’ll love this!

Now pass me a dessert and find Lorenzo to read my tarot cards while I impatiently await the next Key West Food Critic mystery!

Guest Post: Lucy Burdette reveals her character, Hayley Snow, 2014 resolutions

new year resolutions

Hayley Snow is a character that Lucy Burdette created. And I don’t like to play favorites- but Hayley is in my top 5 fav cozy mystery characters. Maybe it’s her food critic job, or the fact that she has been unlucky in love (and I can relate). Perhaps, it’s because she rides a scooter everywhere and I think that is so cool. But, maybe, just maybe- it’s Hayley and her love of having her tarot cards read.  Continue reading

Futuristic Friday: What Books Are You Looking Forward To Reading?

futuristic friday

Hello and welcome all to the first Futuristic Friday hosted by Traveling With T and Katie from Doing Dewey. I’m pretty excited to unveil this new jointly hosted feature (and I hope you are excited to read and see what it is all about!)

What is Futuristic Friday?

Back in 2013, I was thinking about starting a new feature. I toyed around with the idea of a Throwback Thursday- but was unsure that I could maintain that on a semi-regular basis. I also wanted a partner- someone I could trust to help me with the feature, someone who could be a good bloggy person to chat with, perhaps someone who was the yang to my yin. I started thinking about all the bloggy people I interact with and Katie kept popping in my head- she’s got a broad reading taste, I knew her from She Reads, and I enjoyed talking with her. And days later, Futuristic Friday was born!

It’s KILLING me to tell you about this- because in all honesty- my selfish heart wants this. No, it’s not a book. It’s my other love. CRAFTING. I like to play with my scrapbook stuff- make things. It calms me. Makes me happy. Relaxed. The Thinking Closet is giving away……. wait for it………… a Silhouette Cameo (basically a crafty person’s dream.)

Bloggy Talk

Love at First Book is talking all about a PARTY! A G+ party to be exact. I’ve been seeing mommy is coocoo on G+ from various people that were already in my circle. But I hadn’t investigated further- because it’s CRAZY here. Baby shower for my SIL last week, drinks and dinner with author Susan Gregg Gilmore (someone pinch me!) and various Twitter chats & other bloggy commitments. Plus- did I mention this is my crazy time at work? This is when work get nutsy- and I have to power through. So… I have not done due diligence as I normally do- BUT I will be checking this out- and I think you should too!

The Book Wheel has been talking about 8 POPULAR books she didn’t like or finish! Interesting- and a couple of the ones she listed surprised me- because judging from the covers, I def thought these were A’s types of books. But I LOVED reading her article and have been lurking in the comments section seeing what others are saying!

Still Unfinished is a blog that I recently became aware of- in a previous Bloggiesta chat, Bryan was quite helpful with some questions of mine- some tips and advice he provided quickly was “favorite” by me so I could refer as need be! His post on “Why He’s Not Making His Blog A Facebook Page” is interesting and provides another school of thought for blogs and social media. Def read!

And because the holidays forthcoming have me crafty feeling- I’ve been, ahem…. stalking The Thinking Closet’s blog- and I LOVE her post on DIY Painted Cork Coasters.

Traveling With T has announced the December choice for #bookloversunite- and it’s The Lake House by Marci Nault. Come join in!
