Top Secret Twenty-One

Summary from Goodreads:

Trenton, New Jersey’s favorite used-car dealer, Jimmy Poletti, was caught selling a lot more than used cars out of his dealerships. Now he’s out on bail and has missed his date in court, and bounty hunter Stephanie Plum is looking to bring him in. Leads are quickly turning into dead ends, and all too frequently into dead bodies. Even Joe Morelli, the city’s hottest cop, is struggling to find a clue to the suspected killer’s whereabouts. These are desperate times, and they call for desperate measures. So Stephanie is going to have to do something she really doesn’t want to do: protect former hospital security guard and general pain in her behind Randy Briggs. Briggs was picking up quick cash as Poletti’s bookkeeper and knows all his boss’s dirty secrets. Now Briggs is next on Poletti’s list of people to put six feet under.

To top things off, Ranger—resident security expert and Stephanie’s greatest temptation—has been the target of an assassination plot. He’s dodged the bullet this time, but if Ranger wants to survive the next attempt on his life, he’ll have to enlist Stephanie’s help and reveal a bit more of his mysterious past.

Death threats, highly trained assassins, highly untrained assassins, and Stark Street being overrun by a pack of feral Chihuahuas are all in a day’s work for Stephanie Plum. The real challenge is dealing with her Grandma Mazur’s wild bucket list. A boob job and getting revenge on Joe Morelli’s Grandma Bella can barely hold a candle to what’s number one on the list—but that’s top secret.

The #BSCReadAlong is totally “dibbly fresh”!

The #BSCReadAlong

“Dibbly fresh”?! (BSC-speak for super cool!)  I know- you are thinking “What the heck, T?” Well- let me catch you up… So first, if you’ve ever visited Traveling With T you know that Ann Martin is my literary rockstar. She wrote The Baby-Sitters Club books and started my life-long love of reading. Through Ann, I learned about things- diabetes, a place I longed to visit (NYC), and so much more. But, mainly- I learned about friendship. About having a group of friends who were true blue. I could go on and on about my love for Ann (and I did in my post Ann M. Martin Saved The Chicken Pox Princess!) But, I’ll bring it all back to present day ramblings! Several weeks ago- Becca @ I’m Lost In Books and I were chatting about our fanatic love of The Baby-Sitters Club books- and Becca had the brilliant idea of a #BSCReadalong. Continue reading

Oxford: Food. Wine. My Happy Place.

oxford

Hello lovelies! I hope you are ready for some great pictures that will make your tummies rumble and want to hop on the first plane, train, or car heading to Oxford, MS- where the food is great, the wine is the perfect temp, and there is always something happening- be it literary or athletic, educational or musical- or a million other things!

A few weeks ago, Erin- the oh so adorable owner of Deep South Magazine (an online magazine that you must subscribe to like now!) let me know that she and Cerith Mathis (mockingbird media) would be traveling through Mississippi and would love to meet up in Oxford and possibly Jackson. Since both those towns are a hop, skip and jump from my hometown- and I love me some Erin and had been eager to meet Cerith ( us Southern Lit fans have to stick together!) I signed up to meet them for dinner and drinks one night as part of their #SouthernLitRoadtrip. Continue reading

The Objects Of Her Affection

Sophie Porter is on a hunt for a house. Not just any house. But the PERFECT house. The house that will give her and her family the stability she longed for as a child. The house that will be in their lives forever. A house with character.

Sophie finds the house- it’s an old house- it needs work. But it speaks to Sophie. It makes Sophie think of all the things she longed for as a child. It’s the house she wants her children to grow up in, the house that she always imagines being a part of the Porter family- their daily life and their memories. Sophie’s husband, Brian, does not have the same feelings- but since Sophie is more in charge of their finances- he lets her take the lead. Continue reading

The Matchmaker

Dabney Kimball Beech, 48 years old. Resident of Nantucket her entire life. Works at the Nantucket Visitor Center- which is appropriate- because Dabney is a walking advertisement for life in Nantucket.

Dabney has a daughter, Agnes, who she loves with all her being. And a husband, Box, who she cherishes in her own way. Dabney also has a special gift….. She’s a matchmaker. With over 40 couples still together after being matched by Dabney- she’s something of a island legend. When Dabney sees pink- it’s a sign. And when she sees green- it’s a bigger sign.
