Pretty Girls

Summary from Goodreads

#1 internationally bestselling author Karin Slaughter returns with a sophisticated and chilling psychological thriller of dangerous secrets, cold vengeance, and unexpected absolution, in which two estranged sisters must come together to find truth about two harrowing tragedies, twenty years apart, that devastate their lives.

Sisters. Strangers. Survivors.

More than twenty years ago, Claire and Lydia’s teenaged sister Julia vanished without a trace. The two women have not spoken since, and now their lives could not be more different. Claire is the glamorous trophy wife of an Atlanta millionaire. Lydia, a single mother, dates an ex-con and struggles to make ends meet. But neither has recovered from the horror and heartbreak of their shared loss—a devastating wound that’s cruelly ripped open when Claire’s husband is killed.

The disappearance of a teenage girl and the murder of a middle-aged man, almost a quarter-century apart: what could connect them? Forming a wary truce, the surviving sisters look to the past to find the truth, unearthing the secrets that destroyed their family all those years ago . . . and uncovering the possibility of redemption, and revenge, where they least expect it.

Powerful, poignant, and utterly gripping, packed with indelible characters and unforgettable twists, Pretty Girls is a masterful thriller from one of the finest suspense writers working today.

Traveling With T’s Thoughts:

I’ve been living under a rock apparently. I know of Karin Slaughter (and now have actually met her at BEA 15) but I’d not read any of her books, despite numerous recommendations to read her books. Continue reading

When a body is discovered at a high rise condo complex, Nichelle does her best to get the info she can. But, the police are being surprisingly tight-lipped over things.

Of course, that has never stopped Nancy Drew- so Nichelle uses her smarts and her feminine wiles to find out pieces of the story.  Continue reading

Literary Friday, ya’ll….

literary friday

Happy Literary Friday! Wait.. Oops, it’s Saturday. Mea culpa on being a day late. There has been a lot of things demanding my attention lately (plus 3 overindulged cats). Today is cloudy and rainy- turning cool- and I had plans to attend an event called Mistletoe Marketplace- but the weather has made the idea of getting dressed in anything besides comfy yoga pants so I’m going to catch up on blogging. My motto for the weekend: Blog, baby, blog.

1. Deep South Magazine and their #literaryfriday: Hester Young interview, news about M.O. Walsh, and so much more!

2. A copy of THE IMMORTALS by Tori Eversmann is being given away at Traveling With T! Continue reading

{Giveaway} The Immortals by Tori Eversmann

giveaway giveaway

Hey ya’ll! Today,Tori Eversmann, author of THE IMMORTALS, has generously agreed to let Traveling With T host a giveaway.

Yay!

Who is Tori Eversmann, you ask? Have you ever read or watched the movie BLACK HAWK DOWN? If you have, the lead character is inspired by the real-life man- Matthew Eversmann. THE IMMORTALS, Tori’s book, while fiction- is inspired by her time as an Army wife- and the letters that Matt and Tori used to communicate.

Before we get into the giveaway, though, I have some more news. Behind the scenes, for the last few weeks, I have been working on a project for Tori- to help celebrate THE IMMORTALS being released on November 11th (Veterans Day). I would like to give a huge shout-out to some book bloggers who are taking part in Tori’s guest post tour ( beginning November 9th and naturally, hosting giveaways of their own- hint, hint for my giveaway lovers here!)

Special thanks goes to: Silver’s Reviews, The Novel Life, The Book Junkie, Posting for Now, BookFan, and What Is That Book About. You are all rock stars in my book.

Now on to the giveaway! Continue reading

A Likely Story

Lindsey Norris, Briar Creek librarian, is having a normal day. Some book talk, the craft-afternoon group being there, and talk of her love life. All in all, a normal day for Miss Lindsey.

When it’s time to take some books out to one of the islands for Stewart Rosen- Lindsey’s ex, Sully, gladly runs her out there- hoping to spend a little time talking with her.

When they arrive at the island, though, something is amiss. Stewart is not there to greet them. This causes both Lindsey and Sully some alarm- especially Sully, because he knows from first hand experience how protective the brothers are of the island and how they set traps for trespassers.
