Reckless Disregard

Parker Stern is a lawyer with a problem. Not a money problem. Not a gambling problem. But, it’s a problem. He has stage fright (I know- a lawyer with stage fright!) So, Parker is content to work behind the scenes- to get cases settled, to mediate amongst clients. No big courtroom cases for him, thank you very much. Continue reading

The Never Never Sisters

Paige Reinhardt is a marriage counselor- a woman who sees the bad sides of a marriage in her office on a regular basis. She reads the signs, the ticks, the tells that her patients are giving off and helps them, hopefully, put aside the problems in their marriage and find a solution.

One day, Paige comes home early. It’s summer and people are not as interested in working on their marriage as they are hanging out on vacations. Paige’s husband, Dave is home and he is crying. All, Paige can get out of him is that he has been suspended from work for a bit- and that he is sure things will blow over, Continue reading

The Glass Kitchen

Portia Cuthcart would have lived in Texas forever- Texas was her home, her birthright- the place she felt comfortable. The other place she felt comfortable was the kitchen- Portia had a gift (some called it a curse)- but it was “the knowing” and Portia just knew things about food- she didn’t always know why she was compelled to make certain dishes- but she would be. Cooking at The Glass Kitchen with her grandmother was one of life’s joys. Continue reading

Conquering the Book Stacks (#CTBS) 2014

conquering the book stacks

So last year, #ctbs was born. A group of us decided for a month that we would not buy new books, we’d try very hard to read only the books we had on the shelves and not give in to the temptation of the new books. As a group, last year- we did pretty good. Our results ranged- from just a few books read to more than 20- but any book off the shelf is a score! Most importantly- none of us perished from the not buying books for a month (even though it was tough at times!)

Since it worked out so great last year- it’s time to start this back up. Some of us have been discussing for months possible time frames of #ctbs, but it’s been hard to come to a consensus simply because everyone has wide and varied schedules. For me, I wanted to post this post the first of June, but due to BEA and the next weekend being out of town- time slipped away. So, thanks to Ivory Owl Reviews mentioning having 2 months of #ctbs- I decided that “why not?” Have the rest of June and all of July- and hopefully, that’ll work nicely. Continue reading

Last year, I requested The Lemon Orchard by Luanne Rice through Netgalley. After reviewing The Lemon Orchard, I added Luanne to my ever-growing list of authors that have a backlist of books I need to check out. This year, when Luanne’s publicist contacted me about a review or interview, I was able an interview (plus a giveaway!) for the readers of Traveling With T!

Read on for the interview with Luanne as she reveals how this story came about, some thoughts on grief and her role in the character’s story. Continue reading
