#AMonthOfFaves: Picking Favorites

amonthoffaveshome

Christmas is 1 week away and while I’m not panicked (girl, I’ve got my Christmas gifts!) I’ve procrastinated on so many things (Christmas cards, getting the Chex cereal (2 freaking grocery stores were sold out last night- NO CHEX in either store!) and other stuff that I kinda can’t wrap my head around the fact that Christmas is just 7 days away. #AMonthOfFaves: The Blogger Shoutout Edition

amonthoffaveshome

I LOVE shoutouts! When I was in college- I actually got to talk on the radio- the hot station to listen to- and gave a shoutout to my roommates in Yazoo Hall room 131!

So, shoutouts and I go way back. Like a year back (oh wait- maybe it just feels like a year since I’ve been a college gal 😉

Before I get into the shoutouts for this post- let’s jazz hand it up for Andi @ Estella’s Revenge and Tanya @ Girlxoxo!

On to the shoutouts!

Book Bloggers:

1. Rhiannon @ Ivory Owl Reviews. Listen- this girl is right next to the word amazing. Seriously. Rhiannon and I were friendly via book blogging because of our She Reads connection- but in the past year or so- the friendly talk has extended to actually being friends. We even got to meet this year (read all about our meet-up and Stanley the bird- The Time WriterRhiannon and I met in Birmingham).

2. Kristin @ Always With A Book. Again- a She Reads connection got us talking- and as we got to know each other better virtually- a friendship developed. We even took a chance and stayed with each other at BEA 14 ( and after the LONG day of travel that I had to get to NYC- seeing her smiling face was so great!) Seeing Kristin again for BEA 15 was great- and she’s a friend that I adore talking with- because she’s so genuine.

3. Helen at My Novel Opinion. We bonded over a mutual love of finding cheap Kindle books and enjoying the same type of books. We are each other’s #bookpusher- and proud to play that role 🙂 Meeting her at BEA 15 was great- I just wished we could have spent more time together!

4. Allison at The Book Wheel. Badass. Encourages me to chase my dreams. Calms me down when I’m nervous about bloggy things. Reminds me to be a badass.

5. Cindi at Utah Mom’s Life. Cindi always has a kind word for someone on Twitter and she  has such a great take on the books she reads!

6. Wesley at Library Educated. I met Wesley (virtually) through another blogger- and while we don’t talk allllllllllll the time- she’s a straight shooter in her thoughts and opinions- and I find that to be super-refreshing. And her love for scarves makes me know she’s a good person.

7. Tanya at Mom’s Small Victories. Superwoman. Seriously.

8. Katie at Doing Dewey. My #FuturisticFriday partner in crime. The yin to my yang in books. Katie is a non-fiction loving gal and I adore reading her reviews.

Other bloggers:

Wendi at H2O Bungalow. Her crafty ideas always make me feel like I’m ready to nest. And then move to the beach.

Lauren at The Thinking Closet. Crafty. Fun. Ideas galore. Lauren could rule the world.

(Please note that this is not at all ALLLLLLLLLL the bloggers I like or blogs I read. I’m probably forgetting at least 10. Maybe more!)

Now that I’ve shared some of my faves- won’t you let me know some of yours? I’m ALWAYS in search of new bloggers to follow 🙂

#AMonthOfFaves: Getting Sh*T Done

amonthoffaveshome

Listen- I’m the best and the worst person to ask for advice on getting Sh*t done. I can procrastinate. I do procrastinate. But then I am also a Type A, get your Christmas shopping done months ahead, have dates with friends planned out 6 months ahead of time kind of person (to be fair, the college friends I still stay in contact with- we have to plan 6 months ahead because of babies/husbands- and I still know those plans can go to hell in a handbasket if a hubby decides that he must absolutely drink a few caseloads of beer shoot the largest buck known to man.)

With blogging- I try to plan ahead as much as I can. Sometimes it works, sometimes it does not.

Check out Tanya @ Girlxoxo and Andi @ Estella’s Revenge– both of them have some awesome tips!

These Are A Few Of My Fave Holiday Things

1. The Christmas tree. It’s 9 foot tall. It’s a hell-acious pain to put up. But it’s gorgeous when it’s all done. Glittering and sparkling with lights. I love to sit in the living room with a good glass of wine and let the peace of the tree flow over me. Continue reading

#AMonthOfFaves: Reading out of my comfort zone

amonthoffaveshome

My comfort zone in books: women’s fiction, mystery/suspense, psychological thriller, cozy mystery and light romance.

I rarely dabble in the non-fiction. I don’t read erotica. Science fiction- ehh. I recognize my strengths and likes in reading- and I stick with them.

So today’s topic is a bit hard for me to chat about because I don’t read out of my comfort zone- then Katie H reminded me to think outside the box- so here goes!

Wait- be sure and check out Tanya @ Girlxoxo and Andi @ Estella’s Revenge! Continue reading

#AMonthOfFaves: Faves from This Week’s Posts

amonthoffaveshome

So Thursday, I had big plans to catch up on #AMonthOfFaves- read all the posts, comment, etc. Then IFTTT stepped in my path and I thought: “Oh what greatness- I’ll make a recipe and then all my #AMonthOfFaves will be in a Twitter list.” I’m not sure what happened- because I had a list- then all of a sudden I had 2 lists. So, I deleted and went back to re-tweak the recipe- so hopefully, it’s fixed and I’ll only have 1 list.

Give some love to Tanya @ Girlxoxo and Andi @ Estella’s Revenge!

On to my faves:

Stacy @ The Novel Life: She introduced me to a new lip balm to check out. I’m excited to try. Continue reading

#AMonthOfFaves: This Is How I Blog {The Digital Edition}

amonthoffaveshome

Confession: I blog. I blog most days a week. I don’t get all bent out of shape if life gets in the way- but I try to have a blog post up most days a week- whether it’s a review, some bookish talk, giveaway, etc.

But I do tons of things old-school. So, today’s post (This is How I Blog) you probably won’t learn much from me- but I’m hoping to learn lots from you.

Check out the digital goddesses Tanya @ Girlxoxo and Andi @ Estella’s Revenge and then just don’t laugh too hard at my post.

#AMonthOfFaves: 5 Must Haves for Winter Survival

amonthoffaveshome

Today’s prompt:

5 Must Haves for Winter Survival – shout out your favorite brand or stores or favorite items

Be sure and check out Tanya @ Girlxoxo and Andi @ Estella’s Revenge for their winter survival list!

Winter Survival Shout-Outs

So, I live in the South. And you know- we do get cold weather here- but not cold like up North. Like I tweeted one day about how cold it was- it was here- it was around 25 degrees- and my friend Wesley H (of the way up North area) tweeted back and said “That’s cute that you think 25 degrees is really cold.” So you know.. perspective. But again- I live in the South. I shouldn’t have to deal with colllllllllld weather, chapped hands, etc.

Here’s what makes my winter more bearable:

1. Josie Maran Whipped Argan Oil Intensive Hand Cream: I’m pretty much not allowed to watch QVC (I only sneak a peek every once in awhile!) I saw Josie Maran talking about argan oil and I decided to treat myself the next time I was at Sephora. My hands now feel like butter and I’m having less and less of cracked hands, etc.

2. Lotion. I go through lotion like crazy in the winter. I moisturize in the morning and before bed. Top faves: Bath and Body Works and Philosophy lotions.

3. Lip gloss. I buy so many over the year- I like Burt’s Bees the best!

4. Face oil. In the spring and summer- my face is pretty hydrated ( the humidity helps a lot) But as the humidity dips and I find myself dealing with cold weather and heaters- my cheeks begin to get tight. The Fresh Seaberry Moisturizing Oil helps my skin and when the weather takes a turn for the worst (or I know I’m going to be in places where the indoor heaters are kicked up high) I add Clinique Redness Solutions Daily Base– it soothes my cheeks and the green tint hides the redness when I’m chapped/dry.

5. Cozy blankets, hot chocolate, and a good book or movie. When I’m tired of dealing with the outside- the fleecey coats giving me static electricity- I schedule a lazy day. I curl up with a good warm blanket, I keep my plush houseshoes near by, and the hot chcolate coming. Books, movies, and snacks are consumed.
