The Bucket List (so far) as inspired by Karma Brown’s COME AWAY WITH ME

the bucket list

The other day- I saw this great post by Book Clubbish- which is a Harlequin website. They are sponsoring a COME AWAY WITH ME Bucket List Contest in honor of Karma Brown’s book (now in stores!) Since Harlequin is sponsoring this giveaway of 1 item from your bucket list to win (up to a 5,000 dollar value)- I’m entering and keeping my fingers crossed!

I love lists. I love paper. I love sparkly pens. I went to work. I thought for awhile about things I would love to do- and maybe I don’t do because I’m afraid or don’t have someone to do things with me (single, party of one).

But because a bucket list can be about confronting things- I dove headfirst into this and listed 10 for the time being (however this is a work in progress)

10 Bucket List Experiences:

  1. Travel to Paris to see the Eiffel Tower, wear the beret, and be utterly excited that I am finally breathing Parisian air.

So, she leaves Manhattan and moves to a nearby area- where her older sister, Rachel, lives. A place that Jenny hopes to grow and live her own life- maybe find a man, be closer to her nieces, and spread her wings. Continue reading

The Ones We Trust

Summary from Goodreads:

When former DC journalist Abigail Wolff attempts to rehabilitate her career, she finds herself at the heart of a US army cover-up involving the death of a soldier in Afghanistan — with unspeakable emotional consequences for one family. As the story of what happened comes to light, Abigail will do anything to write it.

The more evidence she stumbles upon in the case, the fewer people it seems she can trust, including her own father, a retired army general. And she certainly never expected to fall in love with the slain soldier’s brother, Gabe, a bitter man struggling to hold his family together. The investigation eventually leads her to an impossible choice, one of unrelenting sacrifice to protect those she loves.

Beyond the buried truths and betrayals, questions of family loyalty and redemption, Abigail’s search is, most of all, a desperate grasp at carrying on and coping — and seeking hope in the impossible.

Traveling With T’s Thoughts:

I read Kimberly’s debut, THE LAST BREATH, last year and enjoyed it very much! So, I was excited to read THE ONES WE TRUST. Continue reading

Pretty Baby

Heidi Wood- some might call her a tree-hugger. She recycles, she takes in stray cats, she works for a non-profit and cares deeply about providing resources to people who are leaving other countries to come to America. In other words… Heidi personifies the phrase “Be the change you want to see in the world”.

One day, a cold and rainy day- Heidi sees a teenager with a baby. Something about this teenager keeps Heidi looking- maybe it’s because she can tell the girl is homeless. Maybe it’s because Heidi has such a soft spot for babies- and in general wants to help all the people in the world. Continue reading
