The Marriage Pact
It’s Hadleigh Stevens wedding day. The day she has been looking forward to for some time. The day that she will remember for the rest of her life.
Well… Hadleigh will remember her wedding day forever- but not for the vows. Or the cake. Or the first kiss as husband and wife. Oh no, Hadleigh will remember her wedding day for a whole other reason.
Yes, Tripp Galloway will be the reason she remembers her wedding day- because, thanks to him, there was no wedding. Tripp marched in the wedding and told Hadleigh she couldn’t marry Oakley Smyth- and then took her from the church and told her exactly why she couldn’t marry that man. Hadleigh, upset and crying in her wedding dress, wanted to leave town with Tripp, until he told her some more shocking news.
10 years later, Tripp Galloway is back in town to help his stepfather with the ranch and Hadleigh is all grown up and remaining single till she meets Mr. Right. In the past, Tripp has regarded Hadleigh as “kid sister” like- she was the sister to his deceased best friend, Will, and he promised Will that he would always look out for Hadleigh.
With 10 years passed since the day that he stopped Hadleigh from marrying Oakely- Tripp is beginning to realize that Hadleigh is not “kid sister” like anymore. She’s a beautiful woman, has accomplished many things she wanted to, and is quite comfortable in her life. Tripp now regards Hadleigh as a grown-up and maybe the right kind of woman for him.
When Hadleigh Stevens finds out that Tripp Galloway is back in town- she knows he is there to ruin her plans. You see, Hadleigh, Bex and Melody (best friends forever!) have made a pact- The Marriage Pact. They all want the life they have dreamed of: marriage, white picket fence and kids. And they won’t settle- not till the find the real thing.
With Tripp back in town- is Hadleigh’s plan of The Marriage Pact about to derail? Or will all her dreams come true?
Traveling With T’s Thoughts:
This is my first Linda Lael Miller book and I wasn’t sure what to expect. One of my book buds was really enjoying it and when it was offered for review- it sounded pretty interesting- so I took a chance!
I started this book one afternoon at the pool and finished it the next day- it’s a quick read, light and fluffy- perfect for relaxing at the pool. You have a handsome cowboy, a beautiful spitfire gal- and the chemistry is there between the two characters. Even when Hadleigh is not sure she wants Tripp in town- you can see that she really cares- she just does not want to be hurt.
The plot was cute- perhaps a bit too sweet for some readers, but I like my romances to be a bit more on the sweet side. The friendship between the ladies was nice and I’m eager to see the story of Bex and Melody!
Like romances? Like cowboys? Like stories with themes of friendship? Try THE MARRIAGE PACT!
