Sweet Forgiveness

Hannah Farr, New Orleans fan favorite, is having nothing to do with the latest craze sweeping the world. Is it a new fad diet? The latest exercise to give Britney Spear “Hit Me Baby One More Time” abs? No, no- because Hannah would be all over that!

So what is it?

Forgiveness Stones. Hannah wants no part of it.

Literary Friday, ya’ll……

literary friday

It’s Friday! *jazzzzzzzzz hands*

1. Deep South Magazine and their #literaryfriday: Talk about Southern Gothic, GO SET A WATCHMAN, news about books festivals and MUCH more!

2. The Thinking Closet has a DIY Camera Strap tutorial that I am totes digging!

3. A Touch of Book Madness has some authors she’d invite for tea!

4. Did Library Educated think EAT PRAY LOVE was worth her time? Find out!

5. Ivory Owl Reviews picks Jack Black to play the role of Gavin in THOSE GIRLS- a choice I completely support. Think about it- he’d be like Stanley Tucci in THE LOVELY BONES- a role that goes completely against type and therefore is 100% memorable.

6. OnDBookshelf gives A HUNDRED SUMMERS by Beatriz Williams the ole 5 star review!

7. Always With A Book is giving away ALL THE SINGLE LADIES by Dorothea Benton Frank.

8. Was Wendy Wax’s A WEEK AT THE LAKE a hit or a miss for Stacy @ The Novel Life?

9. What are you reading for #FridayReads? I’m reading an e-ARC of X by Sue Grafton (due out in August!) and probably going to balance that with a light read- possibly something in the funny category!

Those Girls

The Campbell sisters- Jess, Courtney and Dani- do not have the easy-peasy life. Their mom has passed away and their dad is a man who waffles between looking for his next drink or the next fight (and sometimes both at the same time!)

One night, after Dad gets home- a fight turns into something much worse than normal. The sisters don’t know what else to do but leave. So, they grab a few things and start to head to Vancouver- a place where freedom awaits them.

Or so they think. Continue reading

Author Q&A with RayAnne Thayne, author of REDEMPTION BAY (plus Giveaway!)

Today, RaeAnne Thayne answers some questions about her newest book- REDEMPTION BAY and thanks to Little Bird Publicity- we have a giveaway!

Author Q&A with RaeAnne Thayne:

Q: REDEMPTION BAY is the 2nd book in your new Haven Point series. What would you tell someone who is coming to Haven Point for the first time? Is there anything you want first time readers to know before they jump into REDEMPTION BAY?

A: Haven Point is a series of books that explores healing in its various forms — healing hearts, healing bodies, healing families and healing a town. Haven Point – on the shores of beautiful Lake Haven, a few hours from Boise, ID – has seen some tough times and suffered some losses, but despite all the challenges, it’s a place where people care about each other.

Q: As a writer, what kinds of books inspire you? Do you ever find time to read when you aren’t writing your own novels?

A: Reading is such a part of me, I could never give it up. Even when my life is insanely busy. I find time to escape! Books provide solace and retreat and adventure all rolled into one wonderful package. I love any well-written story that captures my imagination and engages my emotions, whether it’s young adult, women’s fiction, or romance, both historical and contemporary.

Q: What would you tell someone who wants to start writing romance or women’s fiction? I’m sure you get a lot of questions like this. Is there one piece of advice that you always share with aspiring writers?

A: The best advice I can offer is not necessarily the most original: Read everything you can in the genre you want to write, continually hone your craft at every opportunity and never, ever give up on your dreams!

Writing is hard, physically painful, mentally exhausting — but it is also an incredible, magical joy. The ability to create characters and stories out of nothing but my own imagination still seems like a miraculous gift to me. I try to cherish that gift, even when the going is tough. If you dream of being a writer, do it, no matter how difficult you find it. As others have said far more eloquently than I can, on your deathbed you will never regret having tried to write. If you let your fears or sense of inadequacy hold you back, however, you will always wonder what you might have achieved.

Q: Every writer has her own routines and methods. How do you spend a typical writing day?

A: I generally don’t start in earnest until I get my boys off to school and my husband off to work. As soon as the house is quiet, I check my email and social media while I eat breakfast and then I either go to the gym or take a walk in the mountains near my home. I then go to my office to write and don’t get up again until the bus brings back our son who has special needs in the afternoon. I have to be present in the late afternoons and evenings for my family – dinner, homework, bedtime – then when they’re in bed, I’ll usually go back to my office to put in a few more hours. Summers play havoc with my writing schedule, of course, so I try to schedule my deadlines during the school year so I can relax a bit and have fun with them.

Q: Can you tell us what you are working on now? When can we expect the next Haven Point book?

A: I just finished EVERGREEN SPRINGS, book 3 in Haven Point. This is Devin Shaw’s book and will be out October 2015. Right now, I’m working on a new book in my long-running Cowboys of Cold Creek series, which will be out in December. After that, I haven’t decided what I’ll write next. Figuring it out is my favorite part of the writing process, facing that world of possibilities that awaits me!
