It’ll be pretty apparent that I had a major thing for RL Stine books growing up (as you’ll be able to tell from many Spook-Tacular October posts devoted to RL Stine!) I like to credit RL Stine for beginning my love of a thriller at a tender age of pre-teen/teenager! While most of his books had more of a thriller feel to him (or at least the ones I read)- some did have a paranormal theme. And those are the ones that still give me the spooky feelings!
I remember being in 6th grade and reading The Cheerleaders trilogy- and just being so creeped out at times. I could handle the stalkers, the bad boyfriends, the besties who had drunk a bit too much of the crazy Kool-aid. But the idea of the evil spirit- that was sooooooo evil- and way out of my comfort zone.
But I read them all. And then never could hear (or think) of split-pea green soup without thinking of a significant incident in The Cheerleaders trilogy. Thanks RL Stine for ruining split-pea soup for me (and I mean that sincerely- split-pea soup actually sounds revolting- even without the Fear Street knowledge!)
The Cheerleaders: The First Evil by RL Stine
“Give Me a D-I-E!”
Newcomers Corky and Bobbi Corcoran want more than anything to make the cheerleading squad at Shadyside High. But as soon as the Corcoran sisters are named to the team, terrible things happen to the cheerleaders.
The horror starts with a mysterious accident near the Fear Street cemetery. Soon after, piercing screams echo through the empty school halls. And then the ghastly murders begin…
Can Corky and Bobbi stop the killer before the entire cheerleading squad is destroyed?
The Cheerleaders: The Second Evil by RL Stine
Corky Corcoran is sure it’s just her imagination when she sees her dead sister rise from the grave. Or is it?
Corky is trying to put the nightmare of Bobbi’s death behind her—she’s back on the Shadyside cheerleading squad and has become friends with Kimmy and Debra. But everything is not back to normal for Corky—she hears horrible screams in the gym, her friend has become obsessed with the occult, and a strange young man is following her. And then the murders begin again…
Has the evil spirit from the Fear Street cemetery returned to destroy them one by one?
The Cheerleaders: The Third Evil by RL Stine
Tormented by dreams of her dead sister, Bobbi, and by a series of gruesome events, Corky knows that it is up to her to learn the century-old secret that is tearing her world apart.
Did you read The Cheerleaders Trilogy? What did you think?
Happy Reading and Have a Spook-Tacular October,

Can we talk about how their names are Corky and Bobbi? Wow.
It was the late 80’s/early 90’s 🙂 🙂 Those names are hysterical!
I don’t think I ever read these ones, and looking at the covers I’m not sure I want to.
These were by far the scariest ones!
🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂
