The House on Tradd Street
Summary: The brilliant, chilling debut of Karen White’s New York Times bestselling Tradd Street series, featuring a Charleston real estate agent who loves old houses—and the secret histories inside them.
Practical Melanie Middleton hates to admit she can see ghosts. But she’s going to have to accept it. An old man she recently met has died, leaving her his historic Tradd Street home, complete with housekeeper, dog—and a family of ghosts anxious to tell her their secrets.
Enter Jack Trenholm, a gorgeous writer obsessed with unsolved mysteries. He has reason to believe that diamonds from the Confederate Treasury are hidden in the house. So he turns the charm on with Melanie, only to discover he’s the smitten one…
It turns out Jack’s search has caught the attention of a malevolent ghost. Now, Jack and Melanie must unravel a mystery of passion, heartbreak—and even murder.
Traveling With T’s Thoughts:
I’ve met Karen White a couple of times at book signings at Lemuria Books and Turnrow Books. And even though at neither event was she there for a Tradd Steet book, there was always lots of questions about that series.
So, when I saw The House on Tradd Street on a Kindle deal a few weeks ago- I took the plunge and bought it. It was less than 3 bucks and I figured “What do I have to lose?”
What I liked:
Charleston. I’ve never been, but reading about it through the eyes of Karen White and her character, Melanie, had made me want to pack up and go visit. Like now.
Jack. I love the chemistry between him and Melanie, the fact that he bets on things with his mom and that he’s got a mystery surrounding him.
Bottom line: The first book in the Tradd Street series has gotten me curious about other secrets in Charleston, if the chemistry will continue to cook between Jack and Melanie, and plan my eventual vacation to Charleston.

I normally do not like ghost stories, but did love this one! And the next one in the series. By the 3rd, I was annoyed with Jack and Melanie and sick of their games. But, the first two were awesome for sure!
I just finished book 2. I like Melanie and Jack, but Melanie is a bit off putting with her obsession about her age and never wearing her damn glasses!
This is my favorite series of all time! Love reading about Charleston and even attended Karen’s Tradd Street Weekend last year which was so much fun. Love Melanie and Jack and can’t wait for the next book!
I just finished book 2! 🙂
Adding this to my purchase list right now. I love ghost stories, and Charleston SC is my favorite vacation spot ever!
I’ve never been to Charleston- but I so want to go now!
