Molly Greene posted an article that Anne Chaconas wrote about 5 Mistakes Authors Make When Approaching Book Bloggers. After reading the article, I just have to say that Anne was spot-on.
Being still a relative newbie- I’ve only been blogging for almost 2 years- I’ve been lucky. I’ve managed to get into some great groups of bloggers, and on to a couple of publishers list. Since, though, I started accepting review inquiries from outside those avenues- I’ve had review requests that were fantastic and some that I could tell were mass-emailed. Most people do personalize their request- and I appreciate that. I’ve not really run into many authors who are making the mistakes that Anne is talking about- but, I encourage people to read this article.
Bloggers- what do you think? Are there mistakes that authors make that harm the blogger/author relationship?
Traveling With T 
Can I ask your advice? I bought two copies of Matthew Quick’s news novel- Please Forgive Me, Leonard Peacock. I wanted to give them away – I just finished reading one of the copies. The problem is, I wasn’t the biggest fan of the book, though I suspect readers who like YA novels a lot might like it. Should I do the giveaway- before/after I post my review or at all?

I don’t think you have to LOVE the books you give away. If you still want to give away the book- I would. And I would write something like “While I had hoped to really enjoy this book- something did not do it for me, etc. However, I think that a fan of YA would really enjoy it- and I have a copy for a giveaway!”
As far as your review, I would post it- either before or after (because, I don’t think it matters! You aren’t going to love every book- and you don’t have to love a book to give it away!)
