#partner When the weather outside is brrrrrrrrrr but the UPS man brings you a highly anticipated 2020 book- well.. you just smile & think warm thoughts as you snap a keeping it real selfie for Instagram today. . . About Almost Just Friends by @jillshalvis @williammorrowbooks { Look for it 1.21.20}: New York Times bestselling author Jill Shalvis returns to Wildstone with the touching story of finding your place in the world—and the people who make it home. Piper Manning’s about as tough as they come, she’s had to be. She raised her siblings and they’ve thankfully flown the coop. All she has to do is finish fixing up the lake house her grandparents left her, sell it, and then she’s free. When a massive storm hits, she runs into a tall, dark and brooding stranger, Camden Reid. There’s a spark there, one that shocks her. Surprising her further, her sister and brother return, each of them holding their own secrets. The smart move would be for Piper to ignore them all but Cam unleashes emotions deep inside of her that she can’t deny, making her yearn for something she doesn’t understand. And her siblings…well, they need each other. Only when the secrets come out, it changes everything Piper thinks she knows about her family, herself…and Cam. Can she find a way to outrun the demons? The answer is closer than she thinks—just as the new life she craves may have already begun. . . Is Almost Just Friends on your TBR list? . . #genxbookstagrammers #almostjustfriends #jillshalvis

3. A post about Kindness day and a reminder to be kind…. plus a mention of one of my fave sayings- Do No Harm, but Take no Crap.

I don’t like to think that I am naive- I truly like to think the best in people. Of course when people suck- I just want to take to the corner of my world, get a blanket fort going, & read & listen to music & eat peanut butter. . . Everyone is going on about #nationalkindnessday ( and truth be told: EVERYDAY should be NKD- throw kindness around like confetti 🎉) BUT let’s face it: Where at one point in time/life/society we had to work pretty hard to be mean to one another- now, with the picking up of the phone/getting on computer- we can hurl mean comments, subtweet like crazy, & get all nutty over at Facebook in a nanosecond. . . I remember when I first started participating in the book community. I was pleased as punch to discover that I could chat with ppl basically all day long about books- until people began ruining that for me. Having people get mad over books I was getting/opportunities that were being presented to me was NOT something i was prepared for. . . Over the years, I weeded out people that I discovered were bad for me, ppl who didn’t really have my best interest in mind. . . All this is to say that if you do have good people in your corner, support them! Love them! If there are people in your feed that need a good letting alone- give it to them. Find your tribe. Watch out for them. . . And while I would NOT think this needs to be mentioned- there is no age limit on reading OR use of social media. If you find yourself following a #genxbookstagrammers or *gasp* older person & that truly offends you- the unfollow button is there for a reason. . . And while I am reminding people to be kind- I am also reminded of another saying that I like to repeat: “Do no harm. But take no 💩.” . . #booksareforeveryone
