#AMonthOfFaves2016: This Is How We Blog

How are ya’ll doing with #AMonthOfFaves2016 prompts? It’s been so great seeing everyone’s posts and I know that Tanya @ GirlXOXO and Andi from Estella’s Revenge feels the same way.

Today’s Topic:

Tue. | Dec. 6 – This Is How We Blog #AMonthofFaves2016 – – Essential Computer Programs, Browser Plugins, Websites and / or your blogging routine

I am always, always, ALWAYS super interested in hearing about how other people blog- so I can’t wait to see what ya’ll have to say!

T’s Blogging Ways:

How I post: I save a blog draft of each post as I begin reading the book or mulling over the topic. Sometimes I’m fired up and I can get the book reviewed or topic talked about in a minimum amount of time, other times I can work a bit and just save. I have found that if I can format my reviews ahead of time and have them all ready to place my thoughts about the book- it saves me a crap-ton of time (especially when I have a sweet niece over at my house and blogging takes a backseat to Scooby Doo, running in the yard, and watching Sleeping Beauty 1 million times).

Music or TV: It all depends on my mood. Sometimes the TV is a huge distraction- other times it’s the background noise that I need to focus me. Same with music!

Programs I use: Google Docs is probably one of the most useful ones for me. I also use Canva and PicMonkey for creating my images. And Pocket for saving links of things I’ve noticed, want to read more about, etc.

Where do I blog? I have 2 places I blog- at home or my office. My office is where I prefer to blog- partly because I do a lot of work there, but also because my office has the faster internet- which means I can get Sh*t done in faster time! However, I also blog at home because sometimes I need to be at home getting other things done AND blogging.

How many blog posts do I do a week? I’ve never had a set number. Sometimes I post 5, sometimes I post each day. I usually try to have a minimum of 3, but I’ve learned to go with the flow.

*How do you blog?*

  1. Love your post.

Mine isn’t as detailed. I guess I answered correctly, though.

I want to check out POCKET. I have never heard of it, but it sounds interesting.

I use Google Docs and spreadsheets. I write my reviews as I read and start a blog post after I have about three or more drafts. Then I add or delete things and edit.

I blog in an upstairs office or at my computer desk which is an old sewing machine base that my dad turned into a computer desk. 🙂

  2. These are great discussion prompts! I also find that if I take noted while I am reading, and set up my blog post formatting before I start writing that everything goes a lot smoother. I blog at our kitchen table – sometimes while my own year old is eating, but mostly during his naps! I’ve tried Pocket before, but I haven’t tried it with blogging – I’ll have to keep that tip handy!

    • Thank you! I can’t take credit for the prompts- that was ALL in Tanya’s capable hands 😉

YES! Anything I can do before to make the actual blogging part easier is SO wonderful and worth it!

Pocket is my blogging/social media buddy. I probably use it MORE for actual social media, but it does help in blogging!

I am impressed when you get more than 3 posts done a week! I struggle really getting 2 done and one is the linkup party that someone else writes the coding for me!

I blog on my couch mostly which is where my “office” is. Tools I couldn’t live without are Google Drive, my phone for pictures, PicMonkey, the Ultimate Book Blogger plugin and add-on to update to Goodreads and I gotta say I love my new theme!

    • *blushing* I try to keep a steady pace of posts, but it can be hard. Especially when I have the case of can’t focus!

I used to blog in my easy chair some- but now it’s hard because when Sir Thomas is in the house- he thinks if I’m in the easy chair that he needs to be IN MY LAP. 😉

If I ever get TWT moved to a self-hosted site, getting the UBB is the second thing I will do 🙂 PSST.. Love your new theme. Very classy looking!

    • I try hard to do regular posting, but earlier in the year (around summer/fall) I got way off sched. I just try to not let myself get off sched too much, but not freak out if it happens every once in a while. LOVE my AirMac- it’s so light!!!!

    • I found it! Your first comment had to be approved because you had used a different email (now you should be able to comment with both emails with no prob!)

Pocket is the best. LOVE it!!!!

Great ideas! I’ll need to check out Pocket. Wondering what you use Google Docs for. I can’t even figure out how to add Mister Linky to my posts:(

    • Love Pocket!! 🙂

I use Google Docs to make spreadsheets for books received, collaborate with my Futuristic Friday partner and if an author sends me a guest post or an interview, I save it to Google Docs, format how it will look best on my blog and boom! Just copy and paste then 🙂

Are you trying to share your link with Mr. Linky? Or put Mr. Linky in a blog post on your blog? If it’s the first- just copy your link after you click on Mr. Linky and paste it where the link goes. The second- you will need the code for Mr. Linky ( meaning that you have to create your own link-up) and then you copy and paste the code provided (for me, on WordPress.com- in my blog post, I switch over to the text option as opposed to visual- paste the code and then click preview to make sure it worked (and it always does!)
