#AMonthofFaves2016 is off to a good start and I can’t wait to check out Tanya at GirlXOXO and Andi from Estella’s Revenge posts about today’s topic!
What is today’s topic? So glad you asked!
Mon. | Dec. 5 – This Is How We Read #AMonthofFaves2016 – eg. Number of books read so far, genre you read the most from, picture of favorite (or most often used) reading location, most read author, % eBooks, hardcovers, paperbacks and/or audiobooks, hint at what your favorite read of the year is (let us guess), types of books you wish you read more of, month you read the most and least)
Number of Books Read So Far This Year: As I write this, I’ve read 80 books. I’m way off than my normal numbers. I went through a bit of a slump. I spent a good bit of time re-reading some old fav books (Something Borrowed, Something Blue, Big Little Lies, some early Sue Grafton, Nancy Drew books, and even did a re-read of Gone Girl.
Goodreads Challenge: I challenged myself to read 132 books this year, and early in the year I realized that for many reasons it was not going to work. If I could just read, it would be different- but blogging takes time away from my reading. I eventually changed my challenge goal to 85 books and I’m 5 away from my goal (I feel confident that I will make it!)
Longest Book: On Second Thought by Kristan Higgins (look for it in Jan 2017!)
5 Star Books: 10 (as of writing)
4 Star Books: 50 (as of writing)
3 Star Books: 20 (as of writing)
A Book I was SO Excited to Read That Disappointed Me: Truly Madly Guilty. It’s fine, but honestly by the time it was revealed what happened at the BBQ, I basically could have cared less.
Hints about my (some) of my fav books of the year: One is about choices, another is about Theodosia Burr, another is about missed connections, and a woman torn between 2 men.
Author I Read The Most: I discovered Susan M. Boyer Liz Talbot series this year and flew through the backlist and then read the newly published one.
First Book of 2016: Eight Hundred Grapes by Laura Dave
Audio Books: #currentlylistening Good As Gone by Amy Gentry

I am actually ahead of my planned goal – my goal was to read 100 (which is pretty normal for me) but so far I’ve read 151. Most of the reason is because I have spent a lot of time away from home to visit my mom at her nursing home out of state. I leave the nursing home at 6 every evening and then have the entire night with no cleaning or cooking to do. I don’t watch much TV so I read and read.
That’s great that you are ahead- I’m sorry to hear that your mom is in the nursing home, though.
I totally forgot about this, Tamara.
So I didn’t miss anything correct.
I had such fun with this last year.

You only missed 2 posts- our Thursday and Friday one, but that is a-ok! 🙂 Glad to see you joining in!
BTW…I like Eight Hundred Grapes.
I was a little disappointed in Eight Hundred Grapes. It was a like, not a LOVE book for me!
I agree. Eight Hundred Grapes was an OK read, but I liked it.
Not sure how I forgot about this month of favs when I was just looking at last year’s posts a week or so ago. LOL!!
Oh well…I am so glad I remembered.
ENJOY your evening and the month of fun.
I am SO glad you remembered! 🙂
I might check out some of Laura Dave’s backlist of books- I haven’t decided yet!
Your teaser for your fave reads made them sound so good … can’t wait to see what they are!
Aww yay!! I’m glad that my teaser did make them sound good 🙂 🙂
I’m sorry Truly Madly Guilty didn’t work for you – did you see it just won the Goodreads award for Fiction? That award is always super interesting to me…I feel like it’s sometimes based more on the nominated book that is most widely read than anything else.
Moriarty has never worked for me…too much mommy politics, which drive me crazy in real life. Haha!
You know I LOVED Big Little Lies, but I was not so in love with The Husband’s Secret. TMG was fine, and had it been my first Moriarty book, I would have prob liked it more. But I was so sick of that damn BBQ!!!
I knew you were not a fan of hers because of the mommy politics (that does not bother me, but I’m not a mommy, either!)
I don’t know that Truly, Madly, Guilty was my most disappointing book of the year, but it’s definitely up there. It really didn’t live up to Big Little Lies for me either!
It TOTALLY did not live up to Big Little Lies. I don’t think I would have been as eh about the book had I not read BLL first and seen what she can do. Psst.. Are you going to watch Big Little Lies on HBO?
So glad I stopped by and saw your take on Truly Madly. After it won the Goodreads best fiction of the year I thought it was something I really ought to read but you’re the third person I trust who didn’t care for it. Too much else out there, I’ll give it a pass!
I REALLY wanted to love it. But it drug on too long and the whole keep you guessing about what happened at the BBQ was just UGH. It’s not bad, but it just did not live up to Big Little Lies (which I LOVE and still re-read!) If you decide to take a chance, grab it from the library- it’s def not worth paying for HC!
