Death With All The Trimmings
It’s Christmas time in Key West and Hayley is not feeling all “Silver Bells”! Why is our favorite little food critic got the blues? Oh, it could be this ole mean spirited elf named Ava that has Hayley down.
Or… it could be that someone is sabotaging a great chef’s restaurant and that does not sit well with Hayley.
Or.. is it relationship troubles?
Let’s go for all 3. Ava is being Ava- and entertaining offers on selling Key Zest- which has Hayley nervous about her food critic future. Hayley is doing a piece on Edel Waugh- a chef that she had the pleasure of eating at her and her husband’s NYC restaurant. When Edel opened her Key West restaurant- she knew it would be tough- she didn’t know that someone would try to sabotage. Being new in town and already bonded with Hayley over food (plus knowing Hayley’s ability to sniff out food related crime), she asks Hayley to look further into the matter.
Then the romance problems. In the last book, it seemed that Hayley and Wally might be on their way to a happy ever after. But, between Wally’s family issues and Ava considering selling the magazine (and pulling rank with Wally)- it’s all throwing a bucket of cold water on their budding relationship. Is happy after ever not in the cards for Wally and Hayley? Or might happy ever after be in the form of a tall drink of water from her past?
Traveling With T’s Thoughts:
I love Lucy Burdette. I love her stories about Hayley and Key West. I love the descriptions of the food (my mouth waters over the food descriptions!)
The recurring characters- oh I think Miss Gloria is the best. And Hayley’s mom- well she has really grown on me. But mainly I love how Lucy just makes me feel like I am in Key West.
If you love cozy mysteries, foodie tips, and a town that is as much of a character as the actual characters- you should def try DEATH WITH ALL THE TRIMMINGS!
