Literary Friday ya’ll….

I’m trying to get back in the groove of blogging, although I have been taking a break (mostly) from IG lately. I some days just feel tired down to my bones- I’m sleeping pretty good and my blood sugar numbers have been acceptable- but sometimes I feel like my plate will never get cleaned enough and I decided to give up something for a few days. Oh I’ll be back to posting regularly (or semi-regularly) on IG soon enough! Oh and for those keeping track-I’m now 21 books behind in reviews. 😦

As July ends today, I would love to hear how many books you read in July and what your fave was! I read 7 books (2 were audio that I listened to while I walked!) The following books are what I read in July!

A Good Marriage by Kimberly McCreight (audio)

The Guest List by Lucy Foley

Family for Beginners by Sarah Morgan

Invisible Girl by Lisa Jewell

The Collector  by Nora Roberts(audio)

The Vacation by T.M. Logan

Lowcountry Boondoggle by Susan M. Boyer

July was not too shabby for reading 🙂 Continue reading

The Wife Who Knew Too Much

Summary: From Michele Campbell, the bestselling author of It’s Always the Husband comes a new blockbuster thriller in The Wife Who Knew Too Much.

Tabitha Girard had her heart broken years ago by Connor Ford. He was preppy and handsome. She was a pool girl at his country club. Their affair should have been a summer fling. But it meant everything to Tabitha.

Years later, Connor comes back into Tabitha’s life—older, richer, and desperately unhappy. He married for money, a wealthy, neurotic, controlling woman whom he never loved. He has always loved Tabitha.

When Connor’s wife Nina takes her own life, he’s free. He can finally be with Tabitha. Nina’s home, Windswept, can be theirs. It seems to be a perfect ending to a fairy tale romance that began so many years ago. But then, Tabitha finds a diary. “I’m writing this to raise an alarm in the event of my untimely death,” it begins. “If I die unexpectedly, it was foul play, and Connor was behind it. Connor—and her.”

Who is Connor Ford? Why did he marry Nina? Is Tabitha his true love, or a convenient affair? As the police investigate Nina’s death, is she a convenient suspect?

As Tabitha is drawn deeper into the dark glamour of a life she is ill-prepared for, it becomes clear to her that what a wife knows can kill her. Continue reading

Literary Friday ya’ll…

Ya’ll… the last Literary Friday was June 19th. I am just going to let the shame of NOT keeping up my LF posts wash over me while I also cry in my large wineglass because I have 20 %^$^ book review blog posts to start getting caught up with.

There comes a time every summer- it’s never really the same time- that I get super un-organzied and the blog just goes to the back of my To-do List. I am trying to shift out of that time.

Be sure and let me know in the comments what you have been reading, podcasts you have been listening to and more- because I’ve missed you guys SO much! Continue reading

A Sweet Mess

Summary: Korean-American author Jayci Lee delights with this delicious and light-hearted romantic comedy that readers will devour and ask for more.

Bake a chance on love.

Aubrey Choi loves living in her small town nestled in the foothills of California, running her highly successful bakery away from the watch of her strict Korean parents. When a cake mix-up and a harsh review threaten all of her hard work and her livelihood, she never thought the jaded food critic would turn out to be her one-night stand. And she sure as hell never thought she’d see her gorgeous Korean unicorn again. But when Landon Kim waltzes into her bakery trying to clean up the mess he had a huge hand in making, Aubrey is torn between throwing and hearing him out.

When she hears his plan to help save her business, Aubrey knows that spending three weeks in California wine country working with Landon is a sure recipe for disaster. Her head is telling her to take the chance to save her bakery while her heart—and her hormones—are at war on whether to give him a second chance. And it just so happens that Landon’s meddling friends want them to spend those three weeks as close as possible…by sharing a villa.

When things start heating up, both in and out of the kitchen, Aubrey will have to make a choice—to stick it out or risk her heart. Continue reading

What You Wish For

Summary: From Katherine Center, the New York Times bestselling author of How to Walk Away comes a stunning new novel full of heart and hope.

Samantha Casey loves everything about her job as an elementary school librarian on the sunny, historic island of Galveston, Texas—the goofy kids, the stately Victorian building, the butterfly garden. But when the school suddenly loses its beloved principal, it turns out his replacement will be none other than Duncan Carpenter—a former, unrequited crush of Sam’s from many years before.

When Duncan shows up as her new boss, though, he’s nothing like the sweet teacher she once swooned over. He’s become stiff, and humorless, and obsessed with school safety. Now, with Duncan determined to destroy everything Sam loves about her school in the name of security—and turn it into nothing short of a prison—Sam has to stand up for everyone she cares about before the school that’s become her home is gone for good.
