Literary Friday ya’ll…

Well it’s the Friday before Halloween (and I hear that tomorrow night is supposed to be a blue moon) and while I’m not dressing up for Halloween on the couch- I am hoping to watch Practical Magic tomorrow night.

What are your Halloween plans?

1. ICYMI at Traveling With T: Kisscut, The Wedding Thief, and Pretty As A Picture.

2. When I was in town for my mammogram, I made time for some other fun stuff (and of course… i didn’t plan on getting a parking ticket!)

3. I got to go to Bull Bottom Farms last Sunday. And of course, I had to bring a book 🙂

On Sunday, the nieces, my brother, mom & dad went to Bull Bottom Farms for a fun day out & about. I’m all about pumpkins 🎃 so I was totally down for it ( and they also have cotton & sunflower 🌻 fields to take photos in!) . . I grabbed my copy of Return to Virgin River by @robyncarrwriter ( published 10.13.20) { thanks @littlebirdpublicity for the gifted copy} my Nancy Drew bag & my real camera 📸 for the fun day! . . Full confession: while I’ve read many of her books-her Thunder Point series, some of Sullivan’s Crossing & a stand-alone or 2- I’ve never read the Virgin River series ( or watched it on Netflix because my internet is not fast enough for streaming- but that is a sad story for another day!) . . So last night, after finishing Home Before Dark earlier in the day & needing something light & sweet to read to get my mind off Mister Shadows- I picked up Return to Virgin River ( and I’m loving it!) I have less than 100 pages left & I cannot wait to find out what happens. . . Also, I may be crashing at a friends house that has Netflix so I can catch up on season 1 so I can be ready when Virgin River returns to Netflix for Season 2 on November 27! . . What is your fave Robyn Carr book? . . #travelingwithtreads #virginriver #virginriverseries #returntovirginriver #genxbookstagrammers #oneworldreaders #mississippibookstagrammers #readreadread📚 #robyncarr

4. Look for Blush by Jamie Brenner on 6.22.2021

Oh ya’ll! @jamiebrennerwrites next book, Blush, ( look 👀 for it 6.22.2021 @putnambooks @suzyapprovedbooktours partner) has a GORGEOUS cover & I can just see me reading 📖 this with my toes in the sand & the ocean breeze blowing gently across my skin. . About the book: From acclaimed author Jamie Brenner comes a stunning new novel about three generations of women who discover that the "trashy" novels of a bygone era just might hold the key to saving their family's coastal winery–and to finding the love that's eluded them. For decades, the lush vineyards and majestic manor house of the Hollander Estates winery made it the North Fork of Long Island's premier destination for lavish parties and romantic day trips. Now the Hollander family fortunes have suffered, and as matriarch Vivian Hollander prepares for the arrival of her daughter and granddaughter for their annual summer reunion, she fears it might be their last. Worse, selling the family legacy to strangers might expose the dark secret she's harbored for thirty-five years…. Visits to the winery have been bittersweet for Leah Hollander Bailey ever since her father refused to let her take her place in the family business. Now a successful Manhattan shop owner, Leah loves the life she's built with her husband and daughter–but with her store, and her marriage, at a crossroads, she can't help but view this year's pilgrimage home as a sorely needed escape. College senior Sadie Bailey has a thesis to write, and the towering shelves of the manor's library offer endless academic inspiration. But when Sadie discovers evidence that her proper Grandma Vivian once ran a book club dedicated to the scandalous women's novels of decades past, the shockingly outrageous tomes give her new insight into her family's glory days. Resurrecting the "trashy" book club begins as the distraction all three women need. But as they battle to save their birthright and heal old wounds, they just might find that the pages contain everything they need to know about how to fight for what they want–and for the life, and love, they deserve. . #Summer2021 #roseallday #bookclub #jamiebrenner #Putnam #travelingwithtreads

  1. I’m listening to Jenny Colgan’s 500 Miles From You. As usual, an enjoyable read/listen.
High hopes for Blush. I “wished” for it on NetGalley – so fingers crossed they grant my wish!

  2. Leslie says:

I love your idea about watching Practical Magic. You probably already know this, but just in case it slipped past you – Alice Hoffman published a prequel to the book this fall.
