The Collector

Summary: From #1 New York Times-bestselling author Nora Roberts comes a novel of a woman who needs nothing, a man who sees everything, and the web of deceit, greed, and danger that brings them together—and could tear them apart . . .

When professional house-sitter Lila Emerson witnesses a murder/suicide from her current apartment-sitting job, life as she knows it takes a dramatic turn. Suddenly, the woman with no permanent ties finds herself almost wishing for one. . . .

Artist Ashton Archer knows his brother isn’t capable of violence—against himself or others. He recruits Lila, the only eyewitness, to help him uncover what happened. Ash longs to paint her as intensely as he hungers to touch her. But their investigation draws them into a rarified circle where priceless antiques are bought, sold, gambled away, and stolen, where what you possess is who you are, and where what you desire becomes a deadly obsession. . .

Traveling With T’s Thoughts:

Julia Whelan is THE BEST NARRATOR. Go ahead and fight me on this- I stand by my statement.

I love how she narrates- but her portrayal of Lila and Ash was just really something.

What I Liked:

The cover. There is something so pretty about it and something to be said for looking out the window and seeing the lights of NYC glowing and ready to show you a good time.

Lila and Ash. I love my couples to have some push and pull in them- to be attracted, but to not be all ooey-gooey in love immediately. To not be afraid to disagree! They pulled it off so wonderfully!

Nora Roberts named the cat THOMAS. Which made me smile. And made me miss my Sir Thomas. But I loved hearing Lila talk about Thomas.

Bottom line: A very enjoyable audio book. I think I would have enjoyed it as a paperback, but Julia narrated this perfectly!
