Literary Friday ya’ll…

Another day, another run to go see a dr for daddy’s eyes (he’s doing good!) The Tambulance will probably be rolling next week again as we have another appointment and I am hoping that we will be slacking up on appointments soon.

In other news- today is Valentine’s Day and THE SUN IS FINALLY SHINING after days of rain and gray skies and I almost cried with joy when I woke up this morning and saw the sun (oh I’ve missed you friend!)

1. ICYMI at Traveling With T: Happy {Belated} Birthday to Traveling With T, Been There; Married That, The Better Liar, and Good Girls Lie.

2. I’m also hosting a giveaway over at Instagram and am THISCLOSE to 1,200 followers (so follow me?)

3. #FridayReads: Still reading Strike Me Down. It’s taking me awhile- but I’ve been busy and haven’t had the time to devote to the book.

4. “And our main character- Agnes- well, while she might have prided herself on some of her snarkability- her naive attitude about some things drove me crazy.”

{ partner} You know the feeling when you see a book cover, read the description & think ‘this is going to be good!!’? . . I totally had the feeling about Been There, Married That. I had been reading a lot of suspense-y/thriller-y books & I wanted some snark. Some laughs. Something different. . . Eh, this did not hit the mark for me. . . From my review: “And our main character- Agnes- well, while she might have prided herself on some of her snarkability- her naive attitude about some things drove me crazy.” . . Oh well- all the books I read can’t be winners. I would love to know your thoughts if you read this! . . #genxbookstagrammers #travelingwithtreads #travelingwithtbookreviews #beentheremarriedthat

5. “Bottom line: It took me a bit to get in the story (but I had a lot going on and you really need to sit down with this book and carve out some time.) A chapter here and there is going to leave you unsatisfied. I look forward to seeing what Tanen Jones is working on next.”

{ partner @randomhouse } Today I reviewed The Better Liar by @tanenjones. This book, I think, would have flown under my radar if @writerrhiannon hadn’t privately messaged me & raved so much about this book that I had to immediately run to Netgalley to request it! . . I’ll admit that the cover was a big part in my request decision- it’s gorgeous, yet dark & mysterious. . . From my review: “Bottom line: It took me a bit to get in the story (but I had a lot going on and you really need to sit down with this book and carve out some time.) A chapter here and there is going to leave you unsatisfied. I look forward to seeing what Tanen Jones is working on next.” . . Are you planning to read The Better Liar? . . #genxbookstagrammers #travelingwithtreads #travelingwithtbookreviews #thebetterliar #thebetterliarbook #tanenjones

8.”How JT is not afraid to get diabolical. I thought for a long time what the best word would be to describe some of her characters and diabolical is THE word. Give me more, more, more! I love it!”

{ partner @harlequinbooks} How many of us would read the phone book if @thrillerchick wrote it? 🙋🏻‍♀️🙋🏻‍♀️🙋🏻‍♀️ . . So now that we’ve established that I am a MAJOR fan of J.T. Ellison’s- Good Girls Lie is def one of my favorite stand alones by her ( it’s def on par with her Lie To Me- which I LOVED!) . . From my review: “Bottom line: Twisty, twisty, twisty and with characters that would make you think twice about seeding your precious daughters to an all girl’s school- this book should def be on your To Read List!” . . Just do yourself a favor & get this book! . . #genxbookstagrammers #travelingwithtreads #travelingwithtbookreviews #goodgirlslie #goodgirlsliebook #jtellison

9.  Well before the rain for days, before having to be at cataract surgery at 7am- I was walking every morning. Don’t worry- these walks will resume now!

10. Surprise book mail 🙂

{ partner @minotaur_books } Happy Pub Day to The Absolution. This book was some surprise bookmail the other week, but after reading the back cover & seeing trusted ‘gram friends like @k2reader & @murderandmoore talking about it- I’m even more eager to give it a try! . . About The Absolution: The Absolution is the third installment in Queen of Icelandic crime fiction Yrsa Sigurdardóttir’s series about the psychologist Freyja and the police officer Huldar. The police find out about the crime the way everyone does: on Snapchat. The video shows a terrified young woman begging for forgiveness. When her body is found, it is marked with a number “2”. Detective Huldar joins the investigation, bringing child psychologist Freyja on board to help question the murdered teenager's friends. Soon, they uncover that Stella was far from the angel people claim, but who could have hated her enough to kill? Then another teenager goes missing, more clips are sent to social media, and the body with a “3” is found. Freyja and Huldar can agree on two things at least: the truth is far from simple. The killer is not done yet. And is there an undiscovered body carrying the number “1” out there? . . I still haven’t dived into the deep world of Icelandic crime fiction-do you have any faves? . . #genxbookstagrammers #travelingwithtreads #icelandiccrimefiction #icelandiccrimewriters #theabsolution

12. Not going to lie- I clapped my hands when I found this book gem in a box the other week. ❤

13. Sometimes love is a plate of chicken strips. Especially when you’ve been trying VERY hard to eat right. And YOU didn’t go to Walmart (or Walgreens) and buy the bag of Ghirardelli chocolate that you normally would have picked up as a Valentine’s day treat your self treat.

*What are you reading this weekend?*

Happy Reading and Bookishly Yours,

T @ Traveling With T
