One of the She Reads Books of Winter selections is The Gates of Evangeline by Hester Young. For me, I read it prior to it being a She Reads selection, having picked up a copy at BEA 15 (Thanks Kristin @ Always With A Book for telling me about it!)
For me, it was THE book of 2015. Book hangover of the most extreme. I didn’t go into it with huge expectations. I liked the plot and I loved the cover- but within pages- I was hooked.
Let me set the scene: It was a gorgeous day. The sun was shining. The air conditioner at where I work had conked out- so instead of sitting and suffering in 90+ degree weather- I was given a personal day- and boy, did I take advantage. Headed to the pool with this book and lounged the afternoon away, reading and swimming.
Check out my review– and let me know if you like it as much as I did!
Happy Reading and Bookishly Yours,

Somehow I missed this one – thanks for the review – i am going to order a copy right now!
*takes a bow* Enjoy!!!!!!!
I love when a friend’s review makes you want to read a book that wasn’t even on your radar! This sounds so good!
YES! It is SO good. I seriously had book hangover for weeks!
I just started this. I somehow missed the fact that this is part of a trilogy until I read Kristin’s review the other day.
I don’t think (till I met Hester at Lemuria Books) that I had known it was going to be a trilogy. Now I can’t wait for the other books!
Hmm I was a bit unsure about this one, but your review and comments here persuade me that it is a worthwhile read.Have to admit that the cover was a little off putting to me as well, but your take is making me take a second look!
Oh I HOPE you like it! Please let me know your thoughts- whenever you read 🙂
