Rowan is a respected teacher, mother and wife. She lived in Mundy’s Landing with her family. Rowan, in current time, is a picture perfect image.
Her past, though, is less picture perfect.
In her teenage years, Rowan found herself getting in trouble- ranging from small incidents to a bit more- but because of a promise to her parents, she puts her bad-girl ways behind her.
Until…. She meets Rick Walker when Rowan and her family lived in New York. It was a mistake, a mistake that could have cost them their marriage if anyone knew. But no one knows.
When Rowan is delivered a package one day- she realizes that someone knows about her past and is ready, willing and able to teach her a lesson.
Now, what’s Rowan to do?
Traveling With T’s Thoughts:
So I had REALLY high hopes for this book. A murder, a mystery, some secrets- sign me up!
However, the book just was ok. It wasn’t bad. It wasn’t great, though. I found myself continuing to read because I wanted to know what happened next- but I wasn’t dying to know what happened next. And in a mystery, I like to be on the edge of my seat DYING to know what happens next.
For me, I think a lot of the problem is Rowan. I just didn’t connect with her. She’s making mountains out of some molehills and keeping secrets when she should be letting some people the info. She was banging the same old drum about her past ways a good bit as well. We get it, you were a bad girl at one point. We get it- you were attracted to the neighbor and you kissed- not the best thing- but not something to obsess over for all the pages she did!
What I did like- the identity of the killer- well, it was anyone’s guess. I was guessing- then changing my mind again and again. So, that angle really worked.
This is the first book in the series- so I’m not writing off future books. Wendi and I may just need some time to get better acquainted as this was my first book by her.
Bottom line: Just average. Not bad, not great. Good points with keeping the bad guy a guessing game!
