First Time in Forever
Emily had a vision for her life. She’s good at her job. She’s good at putting up walls and not needing anyone. Her life could continue on this trajectory and she would be fine. Maybe not emotionally fulfilled- but just fine. Give her a wardrobe with lots of black items and just let her live her life.
Emily is placed smack-down in one of the seventh circles of hell.
Emily finds out that her half-sister has left her custodial rights to her daughter, Juliet. Emily does not feel adequate to take care of Juliet- even under the best of circumstances and this situation is rife with major concerns. Emily’s half sister, Lana, was a famous movie star and the paparazzi is all frothy with excitement over finding her daughter.
Enter Puffin Island.
It’s the one place that Emily feels the paparazzi will not find Juliet. It’s the one place where Emily might be able to feel a smidgen of comfort. Except.. for the ocean. The ocean does make Emily feel nervous.
But that’s not all that makes Emily feel nervous.
Gorgeous. Charming. Oozing sex appeal. He is Puffin Island- and he decides to help make Emily and Juliet (renamed Lizzy) as comfortable as possible. As he gets to know both of them, he wonders why Emily is so emotionally shut-off.
The more time they spend together, the more the sparks grow. But can a man who doesn’t want a family and a woman who is uncomfortable with emotional connections and has custody of a child- can they find a way to move past and be together?

Traveling With T’s Thoughts:
After becoming a fan of Sarah Morgan’s during her Snow Crystal series (and those hot O’Neil men) I was excited to hear that Sarah would be writing the Puffin Island series.
And boy.. as much as I loved the Snow Crystal series- I’m equally digging the Puffin Island vibe. The romance was cute- the backstory of Emily was interesting and with enough sadness and mystery to make me wonder all of Emily’s secrets. And Ryan- he was layered. He had reasons to want his freedom, he had some secrets and he was delicious.
Sarah even set the next book up in the series perfectly- as we, the reader, wonder about Emily’s 2 best friends and how their stories will pan out.
Bottom line: Just buy. Enjoy this sweet romance with some hot moments- it’s totally worth picking up!
