Summary from Goodreads:
Breakup Doctor Brook Ogden has spent the last year sifting through the fallout from the disastrous decision that led to her unconscious uncoupling with boyfriend Ben Garrett. Despite advising her clients you can’t be friends with an ex, she and Ben have somehow begun to stitch together a friendship—one Brook hopes is slowly turning into more. That is, until Ben introduces his new girlfriend, Perfect Pamela, a paragon of womanly virtues who is everything Brook is not.
While Brook navigates her newly volatile emotional life, an unwelcome surprise shows up on her doorstep: the ex-fiancé who broke her heart two years ago—one month before their wedding. Between her ex’s desire to rekindle their attachment, her best friend Sasha’s unexpected crisis, and her own unsquelchable feelings for Ben, Brook finds herself questioning the personal progress she’s made in the last two years—and threatened with the highest-stakes Breakup Doctor failures she’s ever faced.
Traveling With T’s Thoughts:
Oh Brook. I love you. You are so fun. Even when you are being kind of nutty!
Brook knows why the breakup happened with Ben- but she’s trying to get to a point of understanding her role in the breakup. And, finally, she begins to see it. It all comes back to closure with Michael. She never got it and she needs it. So, when Michael shows up in Brook’s life again- she’s confused. She wants to talk to him- and yet, she’s unsure what good will it do.
Over the course of several pages- Brook begins to understand that while she is the therapist- she still has lots to learn about love and asking for what you want. And that her idea of “the perfect picture” is not everyone’s idea.
Sasha is back and while she’s not quite as funny as she usually is (she’s dealing with some issues!) Sasha shows Brook a few things and helps Brook out!
The Cover: As always, I enjoy the covers for Phoebe Fox’s series!
Michael’s return. It was what Brook needed.
Bottom line: If you’ve enjoyed the 2 previous books by Phoebe Fox- this one will be particularly sweet as our favorite break-up doctor is growing by leaps and bounds!
