Evergreen Falls

Lauren Beck- relatively young; but very sheltered. Her mom has kept her close during her older brother’s sickness and now that she’s been able to cut the apron strings (somewhat) her mom is still determined to keep tabs on her every move.

When Lauren meets a man, they become friendly and during a little trip to Evergreen Spa’s hotel- Lauren finds some letters. Letters that spell out a very passionate relationship- but give few clues to who was involved or what happened.

Lauren becomes very intrigued and feels that she is up to the task of finding out the secrets- but is she prepared for what all she will find?

Meanwhile, back in 1926, Violet Armstrong takes a job at the Evergreen Spa. Little does she know that her life will change drastically after she meets the handsome Sam Honeychurch-Blacks- but will the change be positive or negative?

Traveling With T’s Thoughts:

Having read Kimberely Freeman’s last 2 books, I knew I wanted this book as soon as I saw it being advertised. Darn having to wait for months after it’s overseas release for it to finally be released in the US!

I like to think of Kimberley Freeman as a combo of Kate Morton and Sarah Jio. I love how she tells a story from 2 distinct periods of time- and makes them wrap together somehow. Her writing is sharp, her story always entertaining.

EVERGREEN FALLS has something for everyone- a mystery, a love story, dashes of historical fiction. It’s a book that moves through current time and past time without missing a beat. While I probably enjoyed the Violet chapters a bit more, that had more to do with how I did not like Lauren’s mom. #seriousdislike

What I loved:

The cover! #coverlove

The 2 main characters- Violet and Lauren. Both women were searching for something meaningful in their lives and I think both found it- although not necessarily where they were looking for it.

Final Thoughts: Are you looking for a great book that will suck you in with a dual timelines? Look no further- EVERGREEN FALLS fits the bill.

    • If you like Sarah Jio books and Kate Morton- really do check Kimberely’s book out. I love the way she writes. And her books are always published overseas first- she’s an Aussie writer- so you might be able to get her next book fairly soon!
