Carrie is back ya’ll! And she’s talking #literarycrushes, #literaryconfessions and other bookish goodness!
Author Spotlight: Carrie Sparks McClain, author of Dragonfly
If you could choose to be a character in a book- who would you choose?
Anne Shirley from Anne of Green Gables
If you were not an author, what would you like to be?
A singer or an actress
Do you have any #literaryconfessions? Â
I love a good romance novel every once in a while. 🙂 My husband says I am a hopeless romantic, so every so often I like to see the passion in characters. Sometimes you miss that in a mystery novel or more literary work. The romance, if there is any, gets lost in the story itself.
Do you have a #literarycrush?
I can’t say that I have a crush on any one character. Each new book brings on a new crush for me. I am attracted to any strong, caring, brave characters that know how to step up to the plate when the time is right and back off when the lead female needs her space. I do tend to fall a little harder for the military, detective, and FBI type characters for some reason. I appreciate and admire those jobs so much in real life that I think as a character in a book it gives the reader that extra sense of internal strength as well as outward physical strength. That to me is sexy.
What is your favorite song?
I have so many that I couldn’t even begin to name just one. My husband and I are both songwriters so I would probably choose something we have written together as an all-time favorite just because we did it together.
I will say that my favorite for the moment song is “American Kids” by Kenny Chesney.
Do you have any guilty pleasures?
I have watched every season of Dancing with the Stars.
I have attended three New Kids on the Block concerts, the most recent being in 2013.
I love to watch cartoons. Phineas and Ferb is one of my favorites.
Carrie- are you a hardback, paperback, or e-book kind of reader?
I probably read paperback the most. I am the old fashion type that likes to feel the pages. I own a Kindle, but couldn’t tell you where the thing is in my house. I just never use it.
What are some of the books in your TBR (To Be Read) list?
I am reading the latest in Linda Castillo’s Kate Burkholder series right now, The Dead Will Tell. I absolutely love her books.
The Collector by Nora Roberts
The Hurricane Sisters by Dorothea Benton Frank
Save the Date by Mary Kay Andrews
Shadow Woman by Linda Howard
The Best of Me by Nicholas Sparks
and the list goes on and on…
