Looking Back at March 2025

March gets me excited. The weather starts teasing me and making me want to walk in garden stores and saying “I need this and this and this”, I have a fun event with friends from all over to look forward to in March, and I’m usually reading some great books.

This March, though, my guest bathroom got painted and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!

The color is Surfin’ SW9048 and it’s giving me beachy vibes. I am planning on getting some white sheer curtains once hubby measures the window so I know what to order. These are the curtains I am planning to order one day.

I am still picking out paint colors which is a job all on it’s own, but am hoping to get some colors picked out soon-ish.

Another thing I am excited about is our attic going from a hot clusterf*ck of a mess to this, where you can walk around without tripping over damn Sterilite/Rubbermaid type boxes. *Please note: This was not my mess in any form or fashion, nor truly my husband’s mess (although some if it was his) **Please also note I am a second wife and my husband’s son also had an obsession with Legos. His first wife also liked a good shopping deal. Clearly.

Slow mornings with Erin Condren planner & coffee. I try to sit down on the weekend and do a little catch up writing diary style in my Erin Condren planner about my week and making notes to plan ahead for my upcoming week.

Lunch with Tatia aka mississippimomreads:

Listen it’s no secret that if you have been reading my Instagram stories and blog posts over the last few months, job satisfaction has been something I am struggling with. Partly, it’s because the weight of expectations has evolved way past my original job description via being on my 3rd pastor all without my salary being adjusted and partly it’s because no matter how much I attempt to set boundaries, these people do not understand boundaries. And lastly because a lot of the time it’s me being the only point of contact to fuss at, bitch to, or ask a million questions that answers could be found easily via Facebook/website… but it’s even easier to call me.

So a couple of weeks ago I had lunch with Tatia. We talked about many a thing and she gave me some advice and I am taking her up on that advice and also trying to take my mom’s advice to let the job not get to me, to act my wage, and to not stress myself because it’s not good for my health to stay in a stressed state.

Not only did we have lunch, but Tatia gave me the cutest candle and this book (Count My Lies- the March GMA pick).

If you don’t have a friend like Tatia, you are missing out.

Sweet Potato Queen Weekend

Ya’ll I have been doing this weekend since 2011. It’s a blast. It fills my cup, it saves my soul and sanity and I have made some of the BEST friends that I only see once a year from the weekend.

I recently wrote a post about the SPQ weekend and what it all means to me- and this year’s experience was just as fun!

And I’m on YouTube! You will see me and my friend, Sharon, being interviewed toward the end of the video!

And of course my monthly facial….

Bookish updates:

I read 3 books in March (This Book Will Bury Me, Hidden Nature and Parents Weekend)

1 library book (This Book Will Bury Me)

2 Netgalley/ARC books (Parents Weekend and Hidden Nature)

Pages Read: 1,248

Looking ahead to April….

Already 1 book finished

Took hubby out for his birthday…

Trip to Mobile, AL planned.

*How many books did you read in March?*

Happy Reading and Bookishly Yours,

  1. Love your advice “to act your wage” – have not thought about it like that. I have been struggling job wise lately too and stressing out is so not the answer. I have tried the “Frozen” route and sing let it go, let it go . . . hehe. At the end of the day, I need to do for me, myself, and I in order to give back and do the best I can do on a daily basis. Otherwise, I get burned out and grumpy and start stating love my job, love my job. I have to say having hobbies and something to look forward to helps to when it comes to dealing with the daily grind. Need to pause, breathe, recharge, and reset every so many days. Happy Reading, Happy Adventuring – ENJOY!
