Looking Back at February 2025

I made a decision over my Christmas holidays. I was going to take my PTO with no guilt and not answer the phone or texts because it was my time off. It was in my total compensation for my job. And not to say I am a master negotiator (because if I was, I would be making way more money) but when it became clear the salary really wasn’t going to budge, I started negotiating for other considerations (mainly more PTO)

So in January, I took a little trip to Beau Rivage which was fantastic. And then toward the end of January, my friend Rhiannon texted me. Her hubby was going to be out of town for a few days and did I want to come over and hang out? I SO did because we had been trying to see each other for years but it never worked out- either I had just started a new job, was getting married, needed to save my PTO, etc OR we just never could decide where to go.

But, this time I quickly said YES and booked plane tickets (even upgraded to Comfort+ on Delta because I was NOT checking a bag or being forced to check a bag because the bins had run out of space)

And then on February 26- I left out pretty early for the airport because my flight was 9:28am and off I was!

But more on that in a bit…

What I did in February:

More on my Atlanta trip….

I arrived on Wednesday, February 26 and Rhiannon met me at the airport. After hugging and squealing a bit, we walked back to the car to drive to her house. We stopped at Seasons 52 and had lunch there (so good! Lobster bisque and chipolte shrimp flatbread pizza!)

And then Wednesday, we just relaxed. Getting up early that day and Rhiannon was still recovering from a recent sickness- so we snacked, drank wine, and watched Hallmark movies while we caught up on life.

Thursday:

Brunch at The Brunch Apothecary. SO good.

My order of chicken and churro waffles was AMAZING. So yum!

We did some riding around after and then went back to her house to talk about blogging and Instagram drama we had survived over the years (or watched afar while enjoying some popcorn) and then did more wine, more Hallmark and pizza!

Friday:

Shopping at Barnes and Noble. Something about long walks down the aisles of a bookstore just makes me heart happy. Then we went to Tequila Mama to have lunch and it was REALLY yummy.

After lunch, back to the house for a little nap because we were having a sleepover with our friend, Alison, and one of their friends, Meg (who I had never met, but really enjoyed getting to know)

So book talk, a charcuterie set up that was filled with good food (chocolates, CFA nuggets, cheese, etc) and wine galore and then just hanging out = a perfect Friday night!

Saturday morning, we all parted ways because Meg had to get back to her house to pack for a move and Alison had to do a Costco run. So Rhiannon and I hung around the house, she did some cleaning up and I packed and then we made the run back to the airport for me to catch my flight back to Jackson.

Headed home, I had the window seat ( I am always torn between the window and the aisle)

Arriving back in Jackson, hubby was there to get me- I was excited to see hubby because I left for Atlanta on Wednesday, but actually left him on Sunday because he was coming down with something and I did not want to get sick before my trip (yes, I know I win Wife of the Year award!)

Other things in February:

I only read 2 books, which while I wish I had read more, nothing was holding my interest.

I did not review any books on Netgalley.

I was approved for 2 books on Netgalley- The Bachelorette Party and Dying To Meet You.

I checked out 1 book from the library- Tell Me What You Did.

I had supper with an old work friend and we had a nice long catchup about his work situation (dumpster fire), my work situation (part dumpster fire), and just other things.

Another supper with my friend Jenny (quesadillas and drinks).

Aria’s 8th birthday at Caet ( great time with her and the family!)

And then Valentine’s Day flowers from hubby (along with some chocolates and earrings)

So all in all… February was pretty good. And looking forward to March… Sweet Potato Queen weekend!

So how did your February go? Did you read any great books? Go on any fun trips?

Happy Reading and Bookishly Yours,

T @ Traveling With T
