The Shop on Royal Street
Summary: The first in a new spinoff series of Karen White’s New York Times bestselling Tradd Street novels.
After a difficult hiccup on her road to adulthood, Nola Trenholm is looking to begin anew in New Orleans, and what better way to start her future than with her first house? But the historic fixer-upper she buys comes with even more work than she anticipated when the house’s previous occupants don’t seem to be ready to depart. Although she can’t communicate with ghosts like her stepmother, luckily Nola knows someone in New Orleans who can–even if he’s the last person on earth she wants anything to do with, ever again. Because Beau Ryan comes with his own dark past, a past that involves the disappearance of his sister and parents during Hurricane Katrina, and the unsolved murder of a woman who once lived in the old Creole Cottage Nola is determined to make her own whether or not the resident restless spirits agree…
Traveling With T’s Thoughts:
I’ve really enjoyed Tradd Street series by Karen White even though Melanie makes me want to roll my eyes at times.
But after reading all those books, when I heard about the spin-off series in New Orleans, my interest was def high.
I bought the book months ago on a deal and I’m just now reading it ( that is so life!)
What I Liked:
The cover is perfectly New Orleans. I loved it. In fact, hubby and I are going to NOLA in Sept for a wedding and I’m planning on taking the book to Royal Street so I can get a pic 🙂
Jolene. Lord, she’s a hoot and a half. I need more of her!
The mystery. Oh it was so good!
What I’m cautiously optimistic about:
The push and pull between Nola and Beau. They have chemistry, but I hope we don’t have a rinse and repeat of Jack and Melanie (on and off again).
Bottom line: Book 1 has me intrigued for Book 2 and hopeful that perhaps a book 3 might be in the works.
