Everyone Here is Lying

Summary: Welcome to Stanhope – a safe neighbourhood. A place for families.

William Wooler is a family man, on the surface. But he’s been having an affair, an affair that ended horribly this afternoon at a motel up the road. So when he returns to his house, devastated and angry, to find his difficult nine-year-old daughter Ella unexpectedly home from school, William loses his temper.

Hours later, Ella’s family declare her missing.

Suddenly Stanhope doesn’t feel so safe. And William isn’t the only one on his street who’s hiding a lie. As witnesses come forward with information that may or may not be true, Ella’s neighbours become increasingly unhinged.

Who took Ella Wooler?

Nothing will prepare you for the truth.

Traveling With T’s Thoughts:

I really enjoy Shari Lapena’s books and have actually listened to the last 2-3 on audio (and have already preordered her next book What Have You Done?) and I can count on her for a good read/listen.

I’ll be honest, though: At first I was concerned that Everyone Here is Lying was going to be a bit of a snore because the husband, William Wooler, was acting a bit of a sissy for me at the first of the book. But I kept on listening because I just felt it was going to get better….. and it did.

What I liked:

The cover is great and it plays nicely into the book.

Avery. Yes, she could be a big brat. But there was something about her that I liked.

How everyone was a viable suspect. I am sure that Shari Lapena called herself throwing out red herrings, but each person that was a suspect had at least some ick about them that made them a viable option.

Bottom line: Def worked for me on many levels and I loved the ending!
