The Couple Next Door
Summary: You never know what’s happening on the other side of the wall.
Your neighbour told you that she didn’t want your six-month-old daughter at the dinner party. Nothing personal, she just couldn’t stand her crying.
Your husband said it would be fine. After all, you only live next door. You’ll have the baby monitor and you’ll take it in turns to go back every half hour.
Your daughter was sleeping when you checked on her last. But now, as you race up the stairs in your deathly quiet house, your worst fears are realized. She’s gone.
You’ve never had to call the police before. But now they’re in your home, and who knows what they’ll find there.
What would you be capable of, when pushed past your limit?
Traveling With T’s Thoughts:
I’ve read a few of Shari Lapena books, but this one has been one I’ve been meaning to read for some time.
A coupon for a Kindle book later, and I was the proud owner of this book. A couple days later and some relaxing time after a particular hellish week at work, a relaxing time in a large whirlpool tub with a glass of wine, and then finishing the book with an ending that def was worth the cost of the book and I continue to be a Shari Lapena fan.
What I liked:
This cover is WOW.
The twists. Turns. Red herrings. I was there for it all and loving every minute.
The ending. WOWZA.
Bottom line: This was Shari Lapena’s debut, but man- it read like a seasoned pro had written it. Best thing? Her later books prove she still has the spark that made The Couple Next Door so good.
