The Wrong Family

Summary: From the author of the instant New York Times bestseller The Wives comes another twisted psychological thriller guaranteed to turn your world upside down.

Have you ever been wrong about someone?

Juno was wrong about Winnie Crouch.

Before moving in with the Crouch family, Juno thought Winnie and her husband, Nigel, had the perfect marriage, the perfect son—the perfect life. Only now that she’s living in their beautiful house, she sees the cracks in the crumbling facade are too deep to ignore.

Still, she isn’t one to judge. After her grim diagnosis, the retired therapist simply wants a place to live out the rest of her days in peace. But that peace is shattered the day Juno overhears a chilling conversation between Winnie and Nigel…

She shouldn’t get involved.

She really shouldn’t.

But this could be her chance to make a few things right.

Because if you thought Juno didn’t have a secret of her own, then you were wrong about her, too.

From the wickedly dark mind of bestselling author Tarryn Fisher, The Wrong Family is a taut new thriller that’s riddled with twists in all the right places.

Traveling With T’s Thoughts:

I met Tarryn Fisher at Book Expo and have been meaning to read The Wives, but it got lost in a pile of Kindle books. *giggles* So then I saw The Wrong Family on Netgalley and I was like “ooh!” and then I started reading and I was like “huh?”

Allow me to explain.. Also- stop here if you don’t want this book spoiled for you because I’ve gotta vent and spoilers are gonna fly.

Giving you fair warning….

When I started reading the back of the book- I thought Juno was living there because she was a family friend type person. So, it always struck me weird as to how Juno moved about the house- not wanting them to see her getting food, etc. At first, I just wrote it off to this family being peculiar- but then it was revealed.

Juno was a squatter. So, things that hadn’t been making much sense- started to make a bit more sense.

But, still this book was a big ole pile of crazy (and not necessarily in a good way).

I didn’t love the characters. I didn’t really care for the ending. The twists were just a bit too out there for me. It was twists for twists sake- and I dislike that.

Bottom line: This was my first 2 star book on Goodreads for 2020. I think I will still go back and read The Wives- one day. But The Wrong Family- it had all the ingredients to be a good book for me- it just didn’t pan out.
