Literary Friday ya’ll…

When was the last Literary Friday? Is it actually Friday? As we head into Memorial Day weekend, does it really matter if I know what day it is? And also- am I wearing my yoga pants for way too much of the day? (Yes, That answer is probably yes.)

Since we’re on day gajillion and 1 of this shelter at home thing- I can admit that some days I am rocking this. I wear my mask like a good girl when I go out to grocery store, I use hand sanitizer when I can’t wash my hands (although I will always prefer to wash my hands way more than use hand sanitizer), I don’t hug people or slap hands, I try to keep my own hands away from my face and I don’t walk around with my nose stuck out of my mask or my mask halfway down my face while chatting on the phone in a public place.

And then there are days that I do not handle it well. At all. I’m as pouty as my oldest niece when her little sister beats her at Paper, Rock, Scissors (and that is some kind of pouty folks…)

I’m still walking every day. Still trying to eat right. Still drinking water like a frat guy drinks beer. But man, I so wish the last time I had been in a restaurant- I wish I had ordered dessert.

Thanks @williammorrowbooks {partner} for free review copy of The Summer Deal by @jillshalvis. . . About The Summer Deal: From New York Times bestselling author Jill Shalvis comes a friends-to-frenemies-to-lovers story… Add in a few secrets. Shake. Stir. Then read on a lazy summer day at the beach… Brynn Turner desperately wishes she had it together, but her personal life is like a ping-pong match that’s left her scared and hurt after so many attempts to get it right. In search of a place to lick her wounds and get a fresh start, she heads back home to Wildstone. And then there’s Kinsey Davis, who after battling serious health issues her entire twenty-nine years of life, is tired of hoping for . . . well, anything. She's fierce, tough, and she’s keeping more than one bombshell of a secret from Brynn — her long-time frenemy. But then Brynn runs into Kinsey's best friend, Eli, renewing her childhood crush. The good news: he’s still easy-going and funny and sexy as hell. The bad news: when he gets her to agree to a summer-time deal to trust him to do right by her, no matter what, she never dreams it’ll result in finding a piece of herself she didn’t even know was missing. She could have real connections, possibly love, and a future—if she can only learn to let go of the past. As the long days of summer wind down, the three of them must discover if forgiveness is enough to grasp the unconditional love that’s right in front of them. . . Doesn’t it sound AMAZING? And isn’t that cover a slice of happiness we could all use right now? . . #genxbookstagrammers #travelingwithtreads #jillshalvis #thesummerdeal #booksofinsta #readreadread📚 #msbookstagrammers #mississippibookstagrammers

I found this book hiding on my Kindle a few weeks ago & decided I better give it a try since I had gotten it via Netgalley way long ago- in a galaxy far, far, far away. . . First, I have to say that if your friends ask you to go on a white water rafting trip- just say no. If they are true friends, they will go along with a trip to the beach where ya’ll can drink umbrella drinks 🍹 all day. However, if they are persistent- this book should be exhibit A on why white water rafting is not the best way to spend a Girl weekend. . . From my review: “Bottom line: For me, this book just never got to where it was going in a good way. I mean, yes, there were a couple gaspy scenes- but it just didn’t save it for me. 2 stars on Goodreads. Hard pass.” . . It just didn’t work for me. However, thanks to @gallerybooks {partner} for the NG widget. . . #travelingwithtreads #travelingwithtbookreviews #theriveratnightbook #theriveratnight #genxbookstagrammers #msbookstagrammers #mississippibookstagrammers #readreadread📚 #instabooks

  1. The MAM and JS books are on my wish list. I’m on my library waiting lists – thank goodness for libraries!
We’ve opened up in my area but most people follow suggestions to stay healthy (mask, etc). I will adopt the “eat dessert” if restaurants ever open up again. Still, I have some Covid lbs that need to be lost. *sigh*

    • Nice! Officially the shelter at home order lifts tomorrow here. I’m still wearing my mask when i do get out- the 2 counties near me are hot spots right now.

I gotta re-check my notes- but I think that I will be having a giveaway for the JS book 🙂

OMG, I wish I had a dessert the last time we went to a restaurant! We know better now – always order dessert because it might be your last one for a while! 😉
