Daughters of the Bride

Summary: With Joy, Love and a Little Trepidation, Courtney, Sienna and Rachel Invite You to the Most Emotional Wedding of the Year… Their Mother’s

Courtney

~ The Misfit ~

As the awkward one, Courtney Watson may not be as together as her sisters, but she excels at one thing—keeping secrets, including her white-hot affair with a sexy music producer. Planning Mom’s wedding exposes her startling hidden life, changing her family’s view of her—and how she views herself—forever.

Sienna

~ The Free Spirit ~

When Sienna’s boyfriend proposes—in front of her mom and sisters, for crying out loud—he takes her by surprise. She already has two broken engagements under her belt. Should she say “I do” even if she’s not sure she does?

Rachel

~ The Cynic ~

Rachel thought love would last forever…right up until her divorce. As Mom’s wedding day draws near and her ex begs for a second chance, she’s forced to acknowledge some uncomfortable truths about why her marriage failed, and decide if she’ll let pride stand in the way of her own happily-ever-after.

Traveling With T’s Thoughts:

Susan Mallery is an author that is very hit and miss with me. I have tried her Fool Gold series a couple of times and I never could get into it. But I really enjoy the Mischief Bay series- The Girls of Mischief Bay and The Friends We Keep.

I kept seeing Daughters of the Bride all over Facebook- many ads and promos- and I must say that the cover was so eye catching. It just made me catch my breath a bit.

When a copy of the book just randomly showed up at my house, I jazz handed a bit around the house 😉

I really enjoyed the storyline. Family drama and stories about sisters just entertain me.

I liked all 3 sisters (and could relate to them in different ways!) and I never could decide who my fave was! I did get tired of the attitude toward Courtney- she’s had a few hard knocks and she was making her life better (even if her family did not know about it!) and Rachel- well, I understood that Rachel was going through some things- but SOME of it she brought on herself. You can’t act like a martyr all the time.

I was thinking this was going to be a start to a new series, but after looking for more info- it appears to be a standalone. Pity. I would have liked to hear a bit more about the sisters in future books!

Bottom line: This is a book to pass away an afternoon or 2 with. Recommended!

  1. I have felt the same about Susan Mallery books, nothing wrong with them but haven’t been totally gripped. I’ll look into this one – even if it’s just to look at the beautiful cover 🙂

    • I know many who love her Fool’s Gold series, but I have not been able to get into them. However, maybe I need to start from beginning to be fair! This one was a good book! And nothing wrong with appreciating a gorgeous cover 😉 😉
