The Job

Nick Fox and Kate O’Hare are an unlikely pair- he’s a criminal, she’s a FBI agent. He breaks the rules. She enforces them. But, that is what makes them so good together. No one would ever suspect that they work together!

Kate and Nick’s next mission: find the ruthless drug lord who is an international bad guy. The problem? No one knows what he looks like. Only that he has a desire for exceptional chocolate and for gold. And Nick has a plan to lure him with gold.

Before the bad guy is identified, though, it looks like Nick might be up to his old tricks. The FBI is ready to shut him down- but our Kate, who knows Nick cold, knows that he’s being framed. How this ties into the mission is so fun!

With Nick and Kate on the job (and pretending to be married!) fun and laughter are not far behind. After the meet the bad guy- Kate and Nick are a bit concerned- but know they must go through the scheme to take down this bad guy. Important questions: Will Nick and Kate take down their target? But even more importantly, will Kate get to enjoy some of the perks of her pretend marriage to Nick? Stay tuned to find out if their sizzling chemistry explodes!

Traveling With T’s Thoughts:

Janet Evanovich and Lee Goldberg have done it again! The Fox and O’Hare series with it’s Ocean Eleven-ish& White Collar-ish vibe, is back and better than ever.

Listen, there is a formula to the Evanovich stories- and while some days I am just Plum-weary (get it?! Plum?), the Fox and O’Hare remind me of the early days of Stephanie and Joe- the hot chemistry, the sexual bantering, the whole “will they or won’t they?” vibe! And so, I can really, really, really enjoy the whole Nick/Kate relationship.

The Good: The sizzling chemistry between Nick and Kate, the Ocean Eleven-ish cast of characters, the homage Nick pays to the great 80’s shows, and the interactions between Kate and her dad. More good: The way that we see how the con is going to go down- there are still a few little surprises- but we are basically in on the “how to con” from the beginning. In other books this wouldn’t work- Fox and O’Hare, it’s part of the magic.

The Not So Good: I’m not quite impatient yet with the whole “will they or won’t they” storyline between Nick and Kate (remember Steph and Joe didn’t seal the deal till book 4)- I am still enjoying the sizzling chemistry- BUT, I’m putting you on notice, Janet, keep Nick and Kate fresh and exciting. Don’t let them fall by the wayside. #theydeservesizzlingchemistryforever!

If you’ve enjoyed the earlier books in the Fox and O’Hare series- this one will please, as well!

I enjoy her books. I really like her writing style. This is the type of story, like with TV shows-you really want them to get together, but once they do-it takes a different turn and takes something out of it. It’s like a ‘chase’ but you do want it to go some where. It will be interesting to see where she takes these characters.
